Comp USA had a 120 gig Maxtor hard drive on sale for $60. In store only, not online. Also here is a tip for getting the same thing from Staples for $46 if you want to do a little more work...

Hope this can be of some use to someone! I bought the same hard drive from CompUSA a few months ago when they ran a similar sale and it's been great for me.

this is a great deal. the hollywood brother works at comp usa and is selling tons of these so people got more room to store tickle clips

Coooll...HB hook me up with a sweet discount on a new video card. 😛 😛 😛

what comp usa do you normally shop it. with this info and the info on which video card you desire, the hollywood brother may be able to make your ticklish video card dreams come true

hahaha you're such a sweetie, HB. 😀 The video card I really want is a newer version of what I have now, which is an ATI All-In-Wonder. I've got a 32 meg card and, though it would be total overkill til I can put together a new computer, I'd like a 256meg card...or at least a 128. 😛 Either way it's too much for the nessonite budget unfortunately...even with an HB magical discount. 😀
Now that you mention it I have no clue what CompUSA I go to...my area is so full of tiny towns I never know which one I am in. 😛 I believe it's in Parsipanny...which I probably spelled wrong, on rt 46e. 😛

I work the Geek Squad at Best Buy so I can pick up these new HD's dirt cheap with employee discount (it's 5% above cost). I know ahead of time when the really good sales start so I would put one aside for myself the day before the sale actually starts! 🙂

Ah good cause im going to need to invest in a new hard drive after my own computer got infected with some spyware programs. :sigh:

Aph I think a good reformatting should fix that problem!

*sigh

i know, my friends all told me that. Thanks ness

Reformatting is a pain in the ass unless it goes perfectly smoothly (Ive heard it can happen) but it's a lot more economical that starting from scratch. Just be sure you have the instalation files for your OS, all your programs as well as your personal data backed up. 😀
Edit: I believe that when you reformat your data is still accesable using special recovery software. If you need to permanently erase all data on your hard drive (like if you were selling it or discarding it and didn't want anyone to see your banking info, porn, etc) use this: http://dban.sourceforge.net/

ness: the hollywood brother knows of the store you are talking about but unfortunatly the hollywood brother do not know anyone there that he call on your behalf. From what the hollywood brother knows, ati all in wonder are still great cards but can run over $200.00 for some of them. The hollywood brother just find it hard on a limited budget to expense that when the hollywood brother is paying back student loans and other bills

Ontrack Data Recovery is the best data recovery tool I have used to recover lost files from a deletion or format. Veritas Backup Exec is not bad either though either one is quite costly; averaging around $250-300 for Ontrack and near $500 or so for the Veritas one. If you are creative and lucky enough to find a good image file, you can download the full version .ISO for either one on Emule P2P with a decent braodband connection but be prepared to leave the computer on for a day or two to finish the large download. In this case, try to download at least 2 or 3 of the same .ISO files at the same time in case one of the downloads is corrupted or written in another language.

The nice thing about the ATI card is that it's a video card and a capture card in one. I think it would be cheaper to get a Radeon and a seperate capture card when I build a new system but that is a long time and a lot of money down the road. 😛 I'd like to be able to do some high res video editing but it's certainly not a pressing need. 🙂

sounds like a deal alright, but i already have 2X 120gb hardrives installed.
