I've been really getting into Alice in Wonderland lately.

*blinded by copious amounts of symbolism*

Can you explain a bit about the pieces?

Absolutely beautiful, but brings upon so many questions.

Love you! :redheart:

Wow...very comic booky. Like something youd see in an alternative title. I like it. 🙂

i loved them the first time you showed me, and i love them still now 🙂 i'm going to colorize these 😉

Well I'll try my best to explain the pieces. Normally I just see what's in my head, which on occasion can be a dangerous place! ;-)

I always pictured Alice being kind of a warrior chick that is battling her own dreams. Almost like she is far away from reality and confused. And to find her destiny in this wonderland, she has to fight for it.

The Mad Hatter was really fun to draw, I actually finished this piece today. I wanted to have a lot of resemblence from the disney movie, with the cards and the teapots. She's a twisted, demented girl. She's holding herself together with the straight jacket but her madness is overpowering her, hence why the extra scary limbs.

It looks like your mind is a dangerous place for rabbits too. But these pieces are excellent. I love twisted versions of fairy tales.

You totally need to make a book of all your Wonderland drawings. They are so good.

The Mad Hatter is especially nice. She has a real personality

I just came here and looked back on all the characters you've created in this genre so far. As an artist, I'm seriously stunned. Jo beat me to mentioning the symbolism, which I wanted to touch on. What's intriguing about it is the subtle way the archetypical symbolism creeps from the images, rather than hitting you over the head with it.

Alice in Wonderland lends itself so deeply to this kind of re-imagining. If one were to look past the surface story and remember that it was never originally intended as a children's story to begin with (as with so much from the brothers Grimm), one will find a lot of sexual subtext, underlying currents of control and release of the reality of will.

You've captured that with every creation you've shared with us.

Seriouly, Cassie. This line of work from you is so much better than just the drawings themselves. You mentioned "seeing these in your head" and I can easily relate. The best artists often have dangerous, scary minds...even to themselves. It appears to me that these come relatively unfiltered from that place of birth and out into the open air. That's the mark of a true artist...not only in the actual pieces themselves, but in the process.
