Since this is general discussion I guess I can put this here,
I was fooling around on the vw website the other night and saw where VW is bringing out the beetle convertable in January. And the have some pics of it on the website if any of you are interested.
www.vw.com is the site.
Just thought that any of you "Old" hippies might want to see where our love bug has gone! LOL
Its still a cool little car!!!🙂

I like the new Beetle, here we call the Doodle Bug 😉
Got anything on PT Crusier, now that is my car! I love it, Burgundy Metallic Flake ahhh now that's a car!
😀

Incidentally, some of you may remember playing "punchbuggy" as a kid. But now that there are plenty of Beetles on the road again, it's even more fun to play "ticklebuggy" ...

The Beetle Convertible is a...

Nice car! I wonder if there's a turbo model of the convertible available. 😀 Thanks, hootus! 🙂

P.S. Here's a more direct link and pic (go to the website to enlarge it):

More on the beetle

For amk 714, The beetle convertable is available in the 2.0 liter engine and the turbo charged 1.8 litre engine, so your in luck.
I talked to the dealer in OK. City, where I live, and the diesel model is not available, which is the one I really wanted, for mileage purposes, but I guess I will get the 2.0 engine. It also has leather enterior available in the higher level models of the convertable.
For lus2btickled,
There is suppose to be a pt cruiser convertable coming out sometime this year, but I don't know exactly when it hits the showroom.
The beetle is suppose to be on showroom floors by January, so keep an eye out!
And I have that pic of the beetle as my desktop!!!🙂

Thanks for the info, hootus. I'd get the turbo model if only I had the money to make a down payment--I HATE leasing! 😛

more on the new beetle convertable II

Hey amk 714,
One thing to remember about the turbo model, it ALWAYS has to have 91 octane gas, anything lower will burn up the turbos!
Thats why I am going to go with the 2.0 litre engine.
I agree, leasing sucks, I never do that because of the balloon payments at the end, if you decide to keep the vehicle.
Anyway, glad to help out with all the poop on the car.
🙂

will it still require you to start it every day, or has that been fixed?

Biggles

For biggles

I don't know about that biggles, haven't ever heard that before you brought it up.

it was just something I heard, I'm not sure about it. The older New Beetles had a monitoring system in the electronics, and if the car registered no activity (not starting the engine) for a day, it would assume something wasn't right and shut the car down.

Biggles

I never had that problem with my 98 beetle, biggles.
Thats weird, but computers in cars do strange things sometimes.
My 98 beetle was the diesel version, and I got, consistantly, 54 mpg.
One time when I was coming back from a vacation in the ozark moutains of Arkansas, I got 59 mpg! It was a great little car.
The only draw back to them is they have one of those rubber band timing belts. And the factory said at the time that they needed to be changed every 40,000 miles. That wasn't too bad, but the 1000 dollar charge was a kick in the ass!
But I am still going to get one of these convertables because the gas mileage is better than my buick century, and I make 100 miles a day to and from my job. Plus I like drop tops real well. so there is some give and take there, you know?
