It looks like, if these sources are true, that Roland Emmerich is the director of the movie. I know “he did that piece of crap Godzilla.” Well apparently he is good enough to throw away that first godawful script and commission the writer to write one very close to the shows story. And I could believe this as the mobie is being made by 20th Century Fox, and he did Independance Day for them (A cash cow for them) and is in post production on an end of the world mega movie for them. I could see him having a 2 or 3 picture deal with them, and Fox attaching him based on Independance Day. And, it is now said that Goku does not go Super Saiyan in the movie, but Super Saiyan is mentioned in it. As for who is who.
It looks like Jerry O’connell is being heavily considered for Goku. I though it was wrong myself until I looked at him again. He does look like Goku, have that naievete, and if he bulked up, could be a really good Goku as per the look and spirit of the character.
There is also a rumor that Michael Dorn is playing Piccolo. This again, at first sounds kookie, but then he is tall (believe me I met the man when he was dating a local radio DJ and she came into the club to host the Saturday Night Beach Party back in 89. He was leaning against the bar watching her and I bumped into him and said “Excuse me” and his deep, booming voice said “No problem.” The guy is like 6’4” from what I remember. And he has the deep voice to play Piccolo to pull it off.
Also, I think either Orlando Bloom or the guy from “The fast and the furious” is playing Yamcha.
I hear also that Jessica Alba is being considered as Bulma.
