Hello there everyone! I have an RPG idea I would love to share with you guys, it is called The Valley Of Laughter I would very much love for you guys to give it a chance and give some feedback on my idea and if possible i am looking for people willing to help me create it (I lack the technical knowhow to use RPG maker so i would be more than grateful to have someone way more skilled to help me out) I have a plot summary just below:

A young girl by the name of Lola decides that she should get away from the big city and travel out to the countryside for a long and relaxing vacation, as she travels through the tranquil countryside she comes across the pleasant village that resides in the pleasant Feather-Pine valley.

Whilst entering the village, everything seems quiet and calm, people smiling sweetly and getting on with their business, after she has a firm look around Lola checks into a hotel in order to rest for the time being.
A number of hours pass and she has a nightmare (which involves her being tickled from all areas of the shadows whilst tied to her bed) she then wakes up startled by this so in order to take her mind off of it she decides to go for a walk around the market to clear her head.

Although everything seems normal in the village, Lola can’t help but think something isn’t quite right its almost eerie that pretty much everyone is smiling but she eventually shrugs it off assuming its just her nerves, as she treks through the market place she comes across a fruit stall owned by a sweet lady, she decides to buy an apple as a snack but after she pays for it and is about to walk away the lady clutches her wrist.

Lola is kind of unnerved by this and asks what’s the matter in which the woman insists she follow her into the back room, after heading inside the woman explains that ever since Lola arrived the village has become "interested" in her, this confuses Lola but then…the woman explains in a more detailed fashion that the village isn’t what it seems, it is run by a mysterious cult that specialises in tickle torture.

This is too hard to believe for Lola who calls the woman crazy until there is a sudden bang on the door, a deep voice demands that Lola is handed over to what the voice calls “The brotherhood” the lady hastily tells Lola to escape out the back entrance in which she does.

After fleeing the back alleys, Lola runs back to the safety of the hotel and tries her best to get to sleep…after locking the door of course, the next morning there is no sign of the cult but that doesn’t stop Lola from trying to get to the bottom of this mystery, she must embark on a precarious journey to stop this “evil” cult from tickling anymore helpless bystanders.
But she must be careful…one false move and she could find herself in a rather laughable situation.
 
Update

I am glad a small number of you have at least viewed my idea and hopefully read the plot but anyways this is just a quick little update, I am going to save up money and try and buy RPG maker VX ACE I know i have asked for help and i really do appreciate it if someone could lend a hand but hopefully in the coming week or next week I'll have the money to afford it costs £52.99 (I'm British btw hence the pound sign) but in summary I shall try my best to make the game myself and hopefully get a demo out to you guys in the near future in the mean time keep an eye on this thread for more updates! ^-^
 
No offence, but if you feel you don't have the skill to use RPG maker, you probably shouldn't be spending your money on it, especially if you need to save up to get it.
 
I'm keen to learn how to use it if no one is in the mood or doesn't feel like helping out i understand people are busy so yeah
 
Don't lose hope.
If you're really interested, dive in. Plenty of free tutorials on YouTube. You could also try your hand at something like Twine. Loads of great options out there for making games.

Hope you stick with it. Most people have an idea and it ends there. A few might fiddle around with it a bit without ever getting anywhere. Producing even a short game puts you ahead of just about everyone else.

Once you're past that initial barrier, and have created something (anything) playable, people will be more willing to help you out.

Update

I am extending the money saving by a week so I'll have to wait till the week after to buy it, do not worry though behind the scenes i am currently searching for different backgrounds to use and what else i can add, remove and tweak in the story so the work hasn't stopped! ^_^
 
I'm very sorry for not updating you guys but I am still around this project is not dead it is very much alive just got some stuff going on, the money situation is still uncertain due to some problems but I will keep updating on the story and add a few templates as a preview (made them in an RPGmaker trial) I am open to suggestions or anything you want to be put in personally ^_^

I have just about enough to buy rpg maker VX ACE so i'll be getting to work on creating the game, whilst messing around with the different options and tools so eventually there shall be a new game on this site for all to play on and no worries for those of you who come across it a little late to find the download link dead just send me a message and i'll repost the link when i have the time but for now i am gonna start my work and like always if you have any ideas or questions don't hesitate to ask! ^_^

I would personally highly recommend MV. Yes it doesn't have the amount of assets that Ace does at this point, but javascript is an infinitely easier language to learn, and the plugins that MV has right now are just obscenely powerful compared to even some of the most in depth scripts in ace. There are entire scripts and engines that you needed in ace, which can be done with a simple notebox line of code in MV.

I understand if you'd prefer Ace for the art style though, but I personally find MV to be, from a user standpoint, the best on the market of them all simply because of how easy javascript is, how powerful the plugins are (while being very easy to understand), and some other under the hood differences

Example: the damage formula box in ACE has a character limit. the one in MV does not. this allows you to make much much more complex skills. On top of that, MV has Yanfly's "Action Sequences" which give you EVEN MORE control over your skills to be able to make them both aesthetically and functionally do literally anything.

tl;dr: I personally will shill for MV until the cows come home. If you intend to have combat, MV comes with the option for front view (traditional/Dragon Quest style) or side-view (FF style) right out of the box without needing a bulky script. It also, if you include combat, has way more potential and is much easier to design cool skills.

Ugh that was such an obnoxious limitation. Yes, it worked, but it was so unnecessary. And even then, to get things really complex MV is just better. Heck, even just looking at what Yanfly has released as Tricks & Tips you can make:

Bide, Toxic, and Leech Seed (from Pokemon)
Victory Cry, Main Character Death (from Persona 3)
Zed's Death Mark, Annie's Disintegrate, Bond of Stone, Courage of the Colossus, Hexdrinker, Bloodthirster, Static Shiv (from League of Legends)

and a number of other really cool effects. One of the new skills coming in Chapter 3 of WHM is a Rogue ability that marks an enemy with an attack. If they try to use a Magical skill, they take damage and are silenced. How cool is that??

BrewedWar you are absolutely right I have literally just bought RPG Maker MV and I am now about to begin work on learning about the software and then eventually producing a good game for all of you and even then I will not stop there I will make it my mission to make a series of a tickle based RPG. :stickout
