I've been waiting for someone to comment on the new pic...and to ask if perhaps we could throw a bunch of them up somewhere and have a TMF vote, if possible? Perhaps have some of the more famous personalities submit a nice shot? I personally think Lil Reds feet are great for the logo, but perhaps the models of some of the tickling vid companies could compete for the spot? Or even some of our own people at the TMF? Q

Warning! Boring explanation ahead!
While the idea of a vote for the logo is a fun idea, odds are that I'll be leaving the logo as is for a bit... A long bit 🙂.
Stability is important for such an item, as it is how people will remember us. And keeping such things unchanging is key to building brand identity for the TMF. One of my major goals. It's why I settled on keeping the black oval from the old design over a total new look, and Mimi can tell you we tested many other shapes and colors for borders.
I would not have changed from the last one, but The TMF did not own clear rights to the photo image that was in the logo, and with this one we do. Heading off future problems, and setting up some future possibilities.

Yes, but wouldn't holding such a "contest" accomplish just your objective, namely securing clear and indisputable title to said pic, and allow the members to participate either with their pics or their insightful analysis and debate (well...comments anyway)? Just thought we could have a "home grown" gal (or guy I guess..)from the TMF model the logo....?

I must admit that I did like the old logo much better then the new one...no disrespect to Mimi who did a very nice job on the new one...she is great with graphics...but I really don't like the choice of picture. The old one had 'essence" to it in a way...the way the foot arched back as it was being tickled and the toes fanned back to give it that "real" tickling look.
Anyhow I also agree that the TMF needs it's own logo that could not be possibly hindered by copyright infringements and such, and I also agree that a logo plays an important part to any sites identity. Therfore my suggestion would be (since the new one is still new) is to gather a few cool shots for the center of the oval, and have the members vote on it. What a better way to have an identity then with it's own members? Then Mimi could make the new one cause she did just a fine job 🙂

While I agree holding a contest would be fun, one of the problems I'd face is confirming real ownership rights to images that have been sent to me by anonymous forum members. That could turn into a major bit of work.
While most people are honest and on the up and up, I have receieved user pictures for the members image forum that were lifted from web sites (one person even sent an image that I posted of a clothing model from the 80's that some other users recognized and cued me on). And I occasionly get 'here are my feet being tickled, can you post this' e-mails. Most are wonderful shots, but a few I've recognized as shots from about the web. So I just cannot be sure if what I'd get is indeed the property of who sent it. I have no desire to do all the detective work to prove ownership, and do the legal document dance of form signing to transfer rights either. I like to try and pretend this is still a 'just' a hobby 🙂
The last thing I need a year or two from now is a webmaster dropping me a line that says "Ahem, I'd like to talk about the copyrighted image you have stolen from me". 🙂
So I've used an image that I know is issue free, and conveys the idea of tickling. So no contest.
But you have given me a good idea for a Special Golden Feather Category for '02. 🙂... Best amateur image.
