Here's an update. Not my GF's feet but a friend who offered to stand in for her. I glued pipe insulation to the bottom section for comfort

You should make the top board bigger. You can add eye hooks to the top to tie back the toes. Really adds to the sensation. Pool noodles or the insulation that u get for an air conditioner works great for the foot holes.
