First: stay calm and don't say to me "helloooo....how are youuuu...." all togheter; one by one! LOL

second: i've passed the last month trying to find a job, a house, moving my stuff from the airport to the storage, to the motels, and finally to my new home in US, so hte time to use the computer and to continue the work was not so much, try to understand this before saying "that's all you did in one month? ", i worked mainly on my little palm with a foldable keyboard and with the laptop borrow to me by my wife's sister (a wonderful pentium mmx 166 mhz).

The game is almost the same, i've worked on the IA routines and on the chat section of the game (the input mode), n the score and on the musics of the game, in this way we are about at the half of the journey.

Try to test the chat section and please: send to me the file that is in the game directory\data called "log.bpx" , it will help me to inprove the IA after that you'll talk with it for a little bit of time.

When you talk try to make the questions that came in your mind, some questions are implemented in the IA, some aren't, so i need to have as much questions as possible to improve it!

Some questions will also change the image on the screen, or better, will change the expression of the girl, according to your question: in the final game all questions will have effect on her, for now i've implemented only few reactions to test the IA, so don't expect to have a "HAL 9000" LOL

About the music: those are music made by me and taken from internet and re-arranged, listen them with the juke-box button in the main window and write here on the forum section of the game the name of the song tha tyou like and in wich section you want to hear it.
Of course if you have other music, post them (please, mainly midi files, or the game will became a DVD-based game LOL) on teh forum section of the game and write also the author's name, and where you want to put it.

In the end......test it and tell to em if all is ok and if you find an error, write it and send it to me on the forum!

The file is splitted in 3 .rar files, the archive is a self extract, the first file is an exe, so i've put in the end of the file the word "zip" ; simply rename it and delete all that came after the .exe.

If you have problems i can make 3 zip files 🙂

I am finding it hard to think of questions that get an answer! Would it be easier to just have a set of predetermined questions? 😛 I leave that to the programmer as he is smarter than me. 😀 Also I get an error and it closes down when I click Music Jukebox 🙁

I was not thinking that all of you should think about questions....simply use the demo and then post here the file that is called "LOG.bpx" in the folder "data" 🙂 in this way i can elaborate the answer that the program give to you and find the best way to answer to a determinated question 😀

In few words the program analyze what you're writing, then it choose the best answer based on some "hot words" ; the process is a little bit hard to explain, but if correctly implemented it is very accurate, the problem is that I need a ;lot of tim,e to implement a single answer...imagine to implement all the discussion related to teh topics that i 've put inside the program ^_^

In few words is the same thing that you said Nessie 🙂 there are fixed answers, but each answer is related to the question and to the context in wich you're talking; developing an IA is too much for me now, too much time and i want to finish the game before september ^_^ maybe when we'll finish (and if i can find another one that can help me with the code) i can improve the IA of the chat 😀 and maybe we will have the famous 3d engine to play with the 3d model of the girls 😀 i'm still working on it 😀

About the problem with the jukebos: wich one is the error that you have? maybe is the same problem that we had in the beginning with the ocx missed, i'll see if i can find a solution 🙂


Pleaseee post here the LOG.bpx files! this is the best that you can do do help me in the development of the game ! (of course you must talk with the chat a little, or the file will be useless)

Ah, i forget,,,,,,, someone can post something about the girls? (a sheet, some info, a bio, the character, something about her life......etc etc etc!)

Music Jukebox Error Message:

Run-time error '339':
   
   Component 'MCI32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

And I attached my log, with .zip added to the end of it. Just delete the .zip and it will be back to normal. I'll ask more questions soon, I promise.

I fired off a quick series of questions to give you something to play with until I get around to generating a substantially longer list (Work in progress). Thus, only five minutes at most. I'm currently tossing questions at her as I think of them, so it will be much bigger very soon.

I forget to tell to you that for now the girl answer only to general questions, so try to concentrate your questions to general questions that you can ask to a person that you don't know very much and that is not so close to you 🙂

When you talk the only options available in the choise of the topic is "general" right?

Ok, same thing as the other time 🙂 run the "register" file and copy the mci32.ocx in your windows/system32 folder, then try to start the game.

Again: the first file must be renamed, so remove the .zip extension ^_^

Yes my error is the same as HDS's...I will try this fixed version and see if that helps. 🙂
I can imagine how hard it would be to get the quesiton/answer thing right! I have played only a couple of text adventure games and the amount of work that must go into it is mind boggling.
I will sit and have a nice long chat with the girl tonight if I can. 😀

Yes now the jukebox works BUT the music stops playing when the jukebox is closed and the game can't be played with it open!

Maybe i didn't explain with the correct words ^_^
the jukebox is something that is there only to hear the songs, is not needed for the game, because when you'll decide witch are the music that you want in the game, i'll remove the jukebox (maybe it can be a bonus feature?) and you will listen the music during the game 🙂

Those are made from me or re-arranged from me, if you have midi that you want to hear in the game, post them (no copyright material of course!!!! i'm a musician and i have about 3 cd's full of midi bought in my music shop; about all the songs from 1970 to 2002, all genres except disco and rap/hip hop😀 as you can see i don't need famous midi songs, but original or copyright free material ^_^) and i'll put them in the game if all the team will like it of course ^_^

I'm so full of things to do that is impossible for me to find time to make also the musics from scratch! 😀 now i'm planning to subscribe to the college to acquire a bachelor degree, instead o my actual associate degree, so the time is lesser than before 😀

70 peoples saw this post...and if the half of them download the application and help a little with the names and the backgrounds and all the other things that don't require a specifical competence in graphic or programing, i think that we can continue to work and go faster LOL >)

Please....this is a game for the comunity: comunity....give a little help pleeeease 😀

Or you prefer that i pay you, professional artists and graphic designers, and then i'll sell the game? 😵

we are still at 10% with the graphic! 4 girls and only 2 has an (alnmost) complete set of facial expressions.....we needthe backgrounds (we have some), the icons for the toolbar in the game and for the mouse pointer, the animations for the girls.......the static images for the bonus scenes.......

I know, is a hard work, but i told to all that who accept to partecipate must do all that is possible to do (of course only in their spare time) to complete the game; i can use the immagination, but is not too easy to do it, so i'm planning to begin to make some sketch by hand to use as a storyboard (i'm not a graphic but i can use what we have and other material, i don;t care if is copyrighted or ripped, because is only a temporary solution to make possible ot test the game, and all the people that have acces to this area are known, so i don't think that someone will make a mess here , right ? 😀😀😀😀

I'll return to my work this weekend, because i have to make again the examination for the driving licence! (my Italian driving licence is not recognized in US...sighhhhh) after 10 years of experience and more than 40000 miles on the road.....LOOOL!
