New Webcam Chatroom

Now that NEST has pretty much wound down, can some attention be directed toward the webcam chatroom's annoyances? The room continues to "recycle" randomly sometimes forcing re-docking and sometimes opening what the regulars refer to as a phantom room. You'll disappear out of the room and be in one by yourself until others realize your prolonged absence, requiring everyone to leave and re-enter to unite. Probably the most frequent question posed by newcomers to the room, is "how do you PM?". We've repeatedly assured them that this issue is supposed to be addressed and will be rectified soon. I hope we haven't mislead them.

The Private Chat feature is indeed a hole we have to fill. Unfortunately, the chatroom folks have not gotten back to us to enable the feature so I can write code to make it work. Until we are able to contact them that remains in limbo.

The phantom room syndrome is likely beyond my scope, I'm afraid. I suspect I have an idea of why it is doing it (session timeouts on all sides) but there isn't a way to securely get around this without altering the way vBulletin manages sessions, something I am loathe to do. We may be able to implement an alternative authentication system but that will be difficult to do. This all assumes the issue is one I can fix; if it is with the Userplane folks (the source of the chatroom) then I cannot do much at all.
