New Yankee Stadium

Tonight I went to my first baseball game since 2008, my first game since 1998 in NY, and my first game at Yankee Stadium since 1997.

My friend Barney took grad courses at the Univ of Chicago, and they had an event at tonights Yankee White Sox game. For $50 we got a buffet, and bleacher seat. We also saw a great and exciting game.

I think New Yankee Stadium is great. I went to the old one many times. I'm supposed to go to Citi Field to see the Mets and Braves in August.

Have any forum members been to the ballparks in NY? Thoughts on them as compared to Shea and old Yankee Stadiums?

Ive been to New Yankee Stadium, I prefer old Yanks stadium just because of history but it is a very nice ballpark... still my favorite park to go to is Wrigley

Shea Stadium was one of the worst for baseball ever used, likely because it was a hybrid stadium, used for both baseball (Mets) and football (Jets) when it opened in 1964. As a result, it was not correctly shaped for either sport. Views of the game, even from field level, were lousy except from directly behind home plate.

Citi Field is much better but is quite expensive. I will be there in July to see the Dodgers.

Mils makes an interesting point about Shea. I went there many times myself.

Hope you enjoy your game against the Dodgers, mils. I'm going August 12 against the Braves.
