OK, so I just got home from a week in New York City. :wow:
Is it possible to fall in love with a place? This "country mouse" fell right into the grind and loved every single second of it.

Obviously, it was the first time there for me and it appears the word I said most was "WOW." The phrase most stated by those around me? "You can close you mouth now, Jo." 😉

Can y'all use another New York ticklee? I'm ever so tempted to make a drastic life move out of the South!

Jo, who was diggin' bein' tickled on top of the Empire State Building. 😛

...and on the subway...and in Brooklyn...and...ummm...well..you get the point...hehe...

Jo...a NYer?

Stranger things have happened...it is quite a ride, isn't it Ms. Jo? The best part is it changes nearly completely every decade as well... 🙂 Q

Scot,
I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way, but NYC struck a chord in my being that no other place has sounded. In love? MADLY!

Yes, I DID go to Bleeker St. The purpose of this trip was to celebrate my birthday. ((I'll be 30 on Friday!:wow: )) The party began at a little place called The Peculiar Pub on Bleeker. What fun! It was a great area!

I swear it was a religious experience in the city. As long as I can recall, I've wanted to go there, to the Empire State Building specifically. The friend that took me there was having such fun watching me. He kept saying, "You're shaking." I'd try to stop it, but nothing worked. By the time I reached the lobby of the building, I thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest. Did you know that a couple of hours on top of that building seem to fly by in about 18 seconds? 😉 I was lost in the view. Nothing in the world can prepare you for the site of mankind from that vantage point. As the sun rested, the colors of the city came to meet my eyes. Each area has it's own colors as if to say to the world, "Think green when you look at me. Think blue when you look there." Each sign, window and car adds to the canvas that I couldn't duplicate with the world's finest brush in hand.

Being from a mostly rural area and only having visited moderately large cities, I was obviously taken aback. It's so vibrant and full of life. The world reduced and displayed by scale not content!

I worried I would have this overwhelming feeling of sadness given 9/11, but that was dispelled by the simple fact that NYC was everything I expected and more. The only disappointment?? I told my friends I was a little let down that no one was rude to me the whole time I was there. 😉 hehe

Ever felt like a place just called your name? Almost like you'd been there before? So watch out Q....you're right. Stranger things have happened.

I am not impressed one bit!

Wait till you experience the majesty that is the recently pedestrianised Derby City centre!

A happy Gal!

Gee...I figured paying $10 for a tiny sandwich would weird you out Jo! Glad you could see that the City has an entirely different "scale" that one must apply to it to understand any part of it at all....did you check out Times Square, btw? Or any of the musuems? There's literally hundreds of spots that can seize you in the same way that the view from Old Empire did, and if you ever tire of them, you can find another whole vista of an entirely new dimension out on the Island...it's completely odd how these 2 entities blend with and complement each other so beautifully...glad you got to dip your toes into the swirl a bit! Q

Q,
Yeah...you could say I dipped. I think I slept a total of 16 hours while I was there. Maybe it was delirium that made the best impression on me. 😉

I spent time in countless museums, hit every tourist trap I could find, and spent a lot of time simply soaking in the area. I'm a museum junkie, you see, and that fact alone was enough to make me return to the city. Hell, the STREETS are a museum!

I made very brief visits to the areas out of walking distance. 😉 (Everywhere but the Bronx) All amazing to me. I find your comments to be correct about the spellbinding nature of the place. The Empire State building was just a personal thing. It was my superstition in a sense. If you can grasp that, then you know what I mean.

I'm already planning dip #2.

I SWEAR I didn't just "forget" to get in touch with you!!! I did think about you. I was out on Friday night with another TK pal and I kicked my own butt for not having your number packed!!!:disgust: I was wondering how long it would be till I got fussed at for my error.🙁

Forgive me? PLEASE? You can tie me up for 12 hours and remind me minute by minute to not make that mistake again. **Who's the winner here?** 😉

As I said, I'm planning trip #2...so I can correct this!
