"Oh, I'm in the office, and not only do I know about the Canada situation free fall, I also unwisely decided to come into the office, and found out what might be a serious problem with my good buddy Mister Charlie Harton. I came running home, and now I don't even know why" Ross said, with a frustrated but quiet tone.
"Ross , you know as well as I do that we cant buy these companies as a package deal. As soon as we finish paying for it, we might well and likely will get sued through the eyeballs, the company will be attacked by the tax department and the banks, and we might end up spending more money on fighting anyone off and legal fees than both companies are worth in total. As much as we hate to do it with all that the other company could be worth, I think we have to pass, unless Magician Ross has another idea" Steve said.

I'm going to ask Patrick to ask Tom who has these companies to give me a week, to give me a chance to fish around in New York to see if I can find someone to help us, and buy us some time. If Tom says no, then we walk. It is too risky, not only because of the money , but also because of the bank debt, and of course the Tax Department" Ross said.,
"Okay, call Patrick, and tell him this. If this guy Tom says no, we walk, and we just look at it as a lost deal with too much risk for our very solid companies, and we dont look back" Steve said.
Ross called Patrick. "Patrick, I'm home, and in my office. I got your message. The way that Tom is asking us to do this, makes no sense to either me or any of my partners at RFS. Please tell him that I need 7 to 14 days to see if I can think of something, or find legal or financial representation to advise me. If not, then RFS and any risk ,, especially with as solid as our company is financially, the risk is too much, and we will have to tell Tom that we must pass on the deal" Ross said.
"Okay, give me 24 to 48 hours to talk to him. It sounds like you are prepared to go either way, leaning toward no" Patrick said.
"It will be no if the deal is too risky for RFS. If he's willing to give me time to get legal counsel to advise me, then we have a chance. You know my relationship with Alan Hell, my usual lawyer, but he is an investor in RFS and can't do this for us due to conflict of interest. Just see if you can get us time, and if so, fine, if not, then the deal is off for good" Ross said.
