After Ross became involved with the new oil and gas venture with Steve and Fritz, he began to think of ways to use the situation to his advantage.
The first thing he did, to show confidence in the men he invested with, was to put two $100,000 separate investments into the project for Kayley and himself.
When he got home one night, Ross said.
"Gift for you, my dear, from your loving husband, one hundred thousand in oil and gas for each of us separately in the new oil and gas company I just got involved wit. Any distributions or money is all yours to keep alone separate from any money we have jointly" Ross said.
"Thank You, My Love,. for that, you get a kiss, and later, you get far more" Kayley said, kissing Ross.
Then Kayley continued. "Ross, how much do you think we might get each month from this?"
"At first, I was told $1000 a month,but it should steadily increase as more wells are explored and hit. Remember, this is only the first field. A twelve percent return on a new venture is pretty decent" Ross said.
"Sounds good. Money to shop with" Kayley joked.
One week later, Ross and Kayley each received their first checks from the new oil venture for $1000 each. Ross was told that as the months went by, the checks would increase by 25 percent each and every month, and Ross was also asked for additional $100,000 investments each for Kayley and Ross every six months.
"If this explodes as your friends in Texas and Oklahoma think it might, will you be selling RossShell, going into the oil and gas business, and these will be our retirement income to live on" Kaylley joked.
"Whoa, my love, let;s not get ahead of ourselves. This is only the first well of a very new and unchartered venture. On top of that, I am not retiring. Also we need a hell of a lot more to live on than this with how we live" Ross said.
"Damn, and I thought I could get you to retire to Vegas with me" Kayley said.
"Not yet, far from it, we will see" Ross said.
Fritz and Steve sent Ross a possible "projection " of what the company might become within a few years. One billion potential capital, and up to 100 high producing wells.
Fritz joked on the phone one day.
"Get down here with Kayley to Texas, and do some oil and other deals with us. Sell off that company you bust your ass with seven days a week. You would enjoy the pace here far more than New York. I could introduce you to people who would make you millions if you were down here" Fritz said.
"Mister P , have you been talking to a certain woman that I share an apartment with?" Ross joked.
"Noooo, but I have a feeling you are going to love the oil and gas business, even though you are a newbie to it. Think of it, even rookies in the pro sports leagues light it up" Fritz said.
With all the potential for the oil and gas deals, and the money it had the potential money it could make for him and Kayley, Ross knew that he had to keep his eye on the ball. He had a major company to run to service all of his clients and sources of income, and for himself and Kayley .
Kayley brought up the subject again one night at dinner, which served to irritate Ross.
"Okay, thats it, you. Would you like me to take a car down to Atlantic City tomorrow, to go blow money, instead of going into the office to make money?" Ross joked.
"I could care less how you spend your day, hubby, as long as it is not with another woman. I have my own job to go to " Kayley said.
The next day, Ross felt so frustrated, and pressured, that he decided to do just what he said. He called the office.
"I have to go meet a new client in South Jersey today. Will not be in all day. Hold all messages. Will be in tomorrow at usual time. Also have to clear my head. Tell Tim, Fritz or Steve to call me on my cell if they need me" Ross said.
Ross took out $5000 from his own personal money where Kayley could not track it, called a car, and went to

Luck seemed to be with Ross after what happened with the oil well. He won at everything he played at, coming home at the end of the day $25,000 ahead.
That night, Ross got home at his usual time.
"How was work?" Kayley said.
Ross responded by tossing Kayley $12,500
"What is this?" Kayley asked.
"My profit for the day in AC,. I did not go into the office., I went to AC,. If I want to get deeply involved in the oil and gas business, as long as I run my company, that is between me and the people I;m in the oil and gas with" Ross said.
Kayley kissed Ross. "You are right, and thank you for the money" Kayley said.
When Ross went to bed that night, he had to wonder.
