Newscasters You Find Annoying...

I'm seriously hoping this doesn't turn into a mud slinging thread, because I know it's a matter of opinion. My question for this thread is.. what newscasters or weather people, either local or national, do you find annoying ,. (Philadelphia or South Jersey residents who get WPVI, I promise I will not react if someone says Jim Gardner or one of his news team).

For me, one person that I hadn't seen in a long time, and saw tonight for the first time since I moved back to NY last year.

NYC area people probably know the weather man Mr G. This guy has been on various NYC stations since the 1970s, but I haven't seen him for years, since he worked at Channel 2.

Tonight, while I was watching the Mets-Yankees game, WPIX had a preview of the 10pm news, and Mr G gave a preview of his weather report for the 10pm news. The guy has a nasal type voice, that just cuts through you. When we lived in CT in the 1980s, my parents always watched WNBC, and Dr Frank Field, when he worked there. I can remember when channel surfing, if they happened to catch Mr G on Channel 2, both of them would have the same comment about him being completely annoying..

Anyhow, that's the topic.. Annoying newscasters.

I find Christiane Amanpour (now back at CNN after some time at ABC) to be biased, smug, self-righteous, and quite annoying.

There are plenty of bad ones, but for me the absolute worst is Chris Matthews, with Rachel Maddow a close second.

Another one I used to find extremely annoying, but he retired a few years ago. Philadelphia people would remember this guy too.

For many years, Jim Gardner's weather guy, was a guy named Dave Roberts, who is actor David Boreanaz's father., It seemed as though each time Roberts did the weather, and gave the newscast back to Gardner, Roberts would act like he was flirting with Gardner, by giving Gardner, the flirtatious up and down eye roll, that people who are romantically interested in each other would give. These gestures led me to nickname Roberts "Gay Dave".

On the night Roberts retired, when he was finished with his weather forecast, Roberts gave Gardner a kiss on the lips, in front of Roberts' whole family, who were there to watch Roberts' last weather cast. I found that completely revolting, especially because Roberts is supposedly a straight, married man.

I don't know how many members remember or have seen Dave Roberts, but I was thrilled when he retired. I like Gardner's current weather person, the beautiful Cecily Tynan, much better.
