I'm sure this ad was only run in magazines geared towards older gamers.
Gaming machines aren't toys, and they have been geared towards older gamers for many years now.
Maybe some kids came across the ad, but like mature games, parents should monitor what their children read too.

I mean no offence, but, do you have any facts to back up your sureness? Personally, I have a ps2, I play with it. It's a toy. I don't care if you're 8 or 78, that's what it is. It's a picture of a woman , half naked , in bondage, on a bed. Figure it out.evilZ said:

Quite harmless, imho. You see bondage in most kids' comic books.
When the kids play those shooting games on PS2 and Nintendo they slaughter thousands of people on their TV screen. I find that kind of stuff way more damaging to their psyche.

I found an article on this ad. Apparently, both evilZ and TickleWolf are right. But it's still a nice pic, as long as kids don't see it. 😀

By 1996 the Game Boy, not slim and light enough to be entirely convenient to carry around, was due for a revamp. The Game Boy Pocket was no more powerful than its predecessor, but it was smaller and lighter, required half as many batteries, and most importantly had an improved LCD screen, consigning to history much of the blurring that had blighted the original Game Boy. There was some hope that it could be targeted at an older audience than the Game Boy, and accordingly it was coloured matt silver, with uniformly black controls, and marketed in the UK with adverts that placed various images, such as that of a dog staring mournfully at an empty bowl, alongside the slogan 'Seriously distracting'. The Advertising Standards Authority decided that a print advertisement depicting a lingerie-clad young lady tied to a bed went too far, and promptly banned it.

Personally, I like the picture, don't get me wrong. The funny thing is, it looks like they're hedging their bets a little. It looks like a kid's room , but they used mature looking hands,lol.
I do have a "gaming machine"🙂 mine's a PS2, as I stated above. I'll probably get the PS3 when it comes out. I actually have a deal where I can turn in the PS2 and just pay the difference in price for the PS3. So, no, I don't believe that they're JUST for kid's, I passed kid-dom a LONG time ago. But they are marketed primarily to kids. You don't see many Congressional hearings concerning the effects of sex and violence in vidoe games on the average 30 to 50 year old. I just think it's an ad more appropriate in an adult mag. But, I have no idea where it's from. My first post was just an initial, gut reaction
