No; I was assuming that they chose the names as a springboard from that pop-cultural allusion but from what I can tell there's no direct relationship between this movie and the Thin Man franchise.
I saw an endlessly long commercial for it the other night. Either it's one of those comedies that doesn't excerpt well or it just isn't funny, because the trailer did nothing for me. And I loved Cera in Arrested Development and Superbad (though Juno didn't do anything for me).
The commercial may have come on in the wake of the white-hot comedy brilliance that was Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Sarah-and-Hillary sketch on SNL, so maybe it just suffered by comparison.
