No mercy for Mercy! (***/F, feet)

A ruffian has accosted Miss Mercy Mew, pilfered her purse, and knotted her securely to the trunk of a tree. She must await rescue before she can report the robbery to the sheriff... but that now is the least of her concerns! The local forest sprites are touchy about intrusion and have begun to exact cruel vengeance in their own insidious fashion! Poor Mercy can expect no mercy until dawn... eight hours later!

Very good! I must say, I like the style of your drawings more and more. Her face is very well drawn (love the expression) as are her feet. a very consistent line-work and the colours are well chosen. The perspective and foreshortening are also flawless.
This is a mighty fine piece of artwork!

Ah! New picture! I keep missing the newer posts. I must keep a closer watch.

Thumbs up. 🙂

Thank you scavenger! That's great praise coming from you! I tried a few different things in this picture... a more anguished expression, closer view of the soles, more extreme forshortening... all the things you're kind enough to mention. It's a relief to know these attempts were successful. One can't always assess one's own art dispassionately to tell what works for a viewer and what doesn't. That's why feedback is so critical. Again, thank you very much!

Appreciate the raised thumbs, Kalamos! So happy to receive positive comments from a fellow artist! I post new work on such an eratic basis, it's no wonder if it evades notice. My confounded unpredictible work schedule and this cursed heat are to blame! Makes it most difficult to produce anything new that's worth submitting. When the temperatures come down, I'll be more consistent.

Thanks for saying so, rajee! You're most kind! I'm glad that Mercy is going over well. I need to get my practice drawing her, as she'll eventually be integral to the comix series I'm planning. Hope she works just as well there!

Well... I went through fire and ice [some of the first and a lot of the latter] to evade heat and renew my drawing vein.

...

A few new faces joined while I was away. I guess I have to make up for the lost time.
I also noticed people seem very happy about "natural" painting techniques.

Comments so far led me into thinking some users consider computer art too polished and fake.

Ah, and I stopped painting because I found it too messy, compared to computer colouring! The irony of it. 😀

Well, it was about time new artists joined. You guys are keeping it alive.

Thanks for saying so, K! I personally have nothing against computer generated or enhanced art techniques, and would use them more extensively if I could. I know such technology would provide a big boost my productivity... my literary ouput increased enormously after having switched from typewriter to word processor.

Yep, but I feel somewhat... shorthanded.

I was fearing that trusting a program to colour a pic instead of me could make my work less "authentic", less genuine.

And the input you and scavenger are getting about your pics has renewed this old doubt of mine.

I guess I need to check my brushes after all... 😀

I look forward to any new art. A new Kalamos picture (however produced) is always a cause for celebration!

Celebration?
Now... that's a bit too much. 😉

Now, now... you just draw the pictures, well take care of the reaction. That's our part of the contract!

That's the point.
I have no control over those reactions. 😉
Negative input can really disrupt my mood and my drawing vein.

That's why I am posting most of my stuff over my group alone.
Nobody else can post but me, and I get to see the flow of users joining and leaving.

Might sound like a negative mindset, or a control obsession.
Truth is, I put a lot of work in my pics. Especially tickling art, since I am not really versed into it.
I am fed up with casual viewers trashing my efforts.

Plus, I owe nothing to anybody, and I don't fear retaliation since I don't really have much to lose.
If I hosted my pics over here I'd feel obligations. This way I am free from ties.

Sorry for hijacking your thread. Just felt like explaining why I post new pics so sparingly, and I rarely host them over here.

Thanks for explaining that, K. I've often wondered why we don't see your art in the art forum. I'll have to be more thorough in checking the game forum so I don't miss anything new (as I did about a month ago).

For heaven's sake, don't worry about hijacking! Please feel free to say anything you care to on any thread I happen to start. Your commentary is always insightful and interesting. Very well written, too.

Thanks Hungarian2! I was experimenting a bit with Mercy's attitude, trying to come up with something other than the archtypical laugh or smile I'd used up till now. Clever Tony reference! In an early draft of this picture (I went through about a dozen possibilites), she was in the center ring of a circus, being tormented by clowns. The caption would have been "Taming the Tiger"!

It all started as a kind of protest against trolling users.
Then I realised nobody had given a d*mn, so I kept removing my pics unnoticed.
I think I have left little behind.

Game art is much more satisfying to me, since it's closer to the kind of pic I routinely [now, that's a big word...] do.

I don't even care about bad reactions: I like my fantasy pics to begin with, so criticism won't shake me too much.

I started doing tickling art fairly recently - at least on a regular basis - and I am not comfortable with it.
Not because I am shy, but because it doesn't look quite right. A picture without gore, without grotesque characters, without combat.
It feels almost naked to me.

Thanks.

I thoroughly understand what you mean about tickling art, K. I frequently find I have to "nerve" myself into a new picture... again, not because I'm uncomfortalbe with the subject matter (my fetishistic instincts take care of that), but because it's a delciate mood to capture. Action pictures come more naturally to my hand. Also, there must almost always be a fantasy theme. I love grotesques. That's why just about all of my tickling art is */F rather than M/F or F/F.

Thank you, tyklfynd! This is the first mention I've gotten about the sprites. I'd envisioned them as a bunch of naughty little cherubs, which I though would add a bit more frission than they were out-and-out monsters. And thanks so much for the comment on the facial expression! I'm glad that element of the picture worked. It's not what one generally expects, I know.

I congratulate on prolific drawers. Myself? I cannot churn more than a couple of pics in a month, on average.

I finally got to draw something more complex than a doodle, tonight, and I consider it a great accomplishment already, by my present standards.

It's not tickling art, yet, but I guess it could fit in the game characters section.
Or... I might simply send it to you over mail. I guess few people care to delve *that* deep through my posts.

😀 😀 😀

I just took a quick look through the History and Characters section in "Tales of Aygomenia". Some gorgeous artwork in there! Are those line drawings yours (the character types)? I didn't see any signatures.

I don't usually sign the pics I post under the Kalamos persona.
I haven't developed a signature yet! 😀

Odd you asked, though. Everybody asked the same question...
I made the setting up, and I don't think many people know how the chars would look like.
I guess I am the only one who does.
It's all in my head. And in my pics.

It was actually a nice idea, if I may pat my own shoulder.
I should have made it more player-friendly, though.

I was pretty sure they were yours. Beautiful work! I like the colorful maps, too. Plus that one really hip Tukano picture!

I read a bit of the ongoing scenario. You guys have wild imaginations!

Cassandra put her writing talent into it.
I did some preliminary typing, to set the mood and the background story.

New people join at times. Some even stay.
We haven't closed down yet, so I guess it's a partial success already. 🙂

I just think I made the setting all too serious.
Good part is it would also work as a "vanilla" setting.
I didn't want something too silly or fetish oriented.
Problem is new players have to read a lot before they can get the right hang of it.

Tukano, for example, got the right spirit of it, and really helped me fleshing out some of the details.
We should thank him for the background work too.
