I tried a few different things in this picture... a more anguished expression, closer view of the soles, more extreme forshortening... all the things you're kind enough to mention. It's a relief to know these attempts were successful. One can't always assess one's own art dispassionately to tell what works for a viewer and what doesn't. That's why feedback is so critical. Appreciate the raised thumbs, Kalamos! So happy to receive positive comments from a fellow artist! I post new work on such an eratic basis, it's no wonder if it evades notice. My confounded unpredictible work schedule and this cursed heat are to blame! Makes it most difficult to produce anything new that's worth submitting. When the temperatures come down, I'll be more consistent.
