and i haven't changed anything on my computer...whenever i click on a you tube webpage or clip someone sends me the words you either have your java script turned off or you haven't downloaded the latest flash player..to download click here..i must have downloaded it a zillion times and i still can't view any you tube videos...what's wrong with my computer?? i was able to view a month or so ago..grr

thanks

Are you sure you have the latest version of Flash? Go here and make sure under "Version Information" in the middle-ish it says "You have version 9,0,124,0 installed".

^ yes i have that and still i cannot view clips..damn it...

What browser are you using? Are you sure that you have JavaScript enabled (i.e., not inadvertently put YouTube in IE "Restricted Sites" or blocking YouTube with NoScript)?

hmm...i'm not sure...and no i didn't put youtube in a restricted site..by browser do you mean internet explorer? sighs i'm so computer illiterate even now..after four years..

Internet Explorer is a browser, yes. Can you try viewing Youtube using a different browser? Try downloading and installing either Opera or Firefox; if one works with Youtube then we can see if fixing Internet Explorer is possible (or you can just use the alternate).

I had exactly the same problem after a new Flash version installed and somehow got corrupted. I uninstalled Flash then redownloaded and reinstalled it, and since then it's worked fine. Just redownloading didn't work... I had to uninstall the program (Adobe Flash player) from the add/remove programs menu in the windows control panel.

neither of them allowed me to view any youtube clip either...sighs..what on earth is wrong with my computer?

I've been having the same problem for about year. I haven't found a fix for it, but I found that if I right-click on IE and choose "Run as Administrator", that it works.

right click on what though? i mean where on the computer page do i click? i don't see any I E

and nice screen name...

ok i might try that...what i did do just then was go to troubleshooters with adobe flash...and they suggested i change my option setting to prompt on something and i was able to view you tube...the problem now is, every time i click on anything at all this box shows up first, asking do i want to allow this and this to run on my computer...

activex controls and plug ons...

every time..like when i was trying to post just then..

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Flash, then. Head to http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157 and download the file on the "Windows: uninstall_flash_player.exe (181 KB) (updated 04/08/08)" line. Note where you saved that file and close all open programs, including internet browsers. Run that file and restart your computer. Visit this link and install flash again.

That sounds right... I know when I had the same problem I had to uninstall and reinstall flash. I was trying to remember how I uninstalled it, and I think what HDS describes is how I did it. Uninstalling and reinstalling flash solved the problem for me.

Okay, so what if all else fails. I've literally been jumping through hoops trying to get this fucking thing to work and I'm obviously getting pissed off about it.

well ^ sorry about that..for some reason my computer fixed itself and i can view youtube clips again...not sure why or what happened..

'Been a bit since I saw this question. Sorry to patronize, but can you lay out precisely what troubles Flash is giving you? By this I mean what is it doing instead of what you expect? Errors? No player at all?

I reformatted my hardrive and reinstalled everything and downloaded the latest Adobe Flash Player and it works on some sites but on others it doesn't. Youtube is the big one for me though. It's telling me I need to install the latest Adobe Flash Player or enable JavaScript, which I have both of them. I've done everything I could possibly find to try to fix this problem but it still persists.
