Not Another Religion Poll!

Ahhhhhhhhh!!

Well, I've decided to hop on the bandwagon a bit and make another religion poll. It appears those who identify as atheist take offense to SantaFeSwitch including wicca along with atheism and secular humanism. Personally, I loved his poll, but I guess I felt that I need to make another one, that way everyone's happy. 😀

And I know that Buddhism is an atheistic philosophy, but I just thought I'd include it with all the rest since most practicing Buddhists don't identify as atheist, as far as I've seen. I know I couldn't possibly include every other religion or belief there is, but I tried to include all the well-known ones. And if you don't identify as any of those, just pick "other".

It's not that I take offense to it so much as I feel it doesn't make sense to put such difference sets of beliefs together based on very minor and generic similarities. The way I see it, it would make as much sense to dump Christianity and Satanism in the same category just because they share some elements of their mythology. Something tells me that some Christians might have as bit of a problem with that (some Satanists too, I guess).

Hell yeah! If I were to choose a religion, I think I'd go with LaVeyan Satanism, and I sure would have a bit of a problem with that comparison, just as I would with listing atheists along with buddhists. So, thank you for not doing that Amanda, or I would have had to choose "other". XD

I chose atheist/agnostic though, since that is the easiest way to explain my views to others. I don't really approach religion in the traditional sense, though. It's... complicated XD

Idk, I mean I love all the other religion polls. I just haven't seen one that lists all the separate types of beliefs in a very simple, straightforward way. To me, atheism is completely different from wicca, Catholicism and Protestantism are just branches of Christianity, not separate religions, and Xenatism is my fake religion of choice! lawlz...

LaVeyan Satanism isn't really satanism, it's Me Myself and I-ism.

Eh, nothing wrong with that. 😉 But overall I think they have some pretty good philosophical ideas, and it's not like they say you should be a selfish oaf. Basically they say that life is precious, and you should live life to its fullest since we simply can't know if there is an afterlife. So, for example they shun martyrdom and whatnot, and believe the only time when it is acceptable to saccrifice your life is when you're trying to save/defend a loved one.

Me Myself and I-ism? Only on the surface my friend. That said, I'm not a "believer", I just think they make more sense than any other religion out there. 🙂

I practice Tantra Yoga as part of a broader Integral Yoga, so I chose 'other.' But it's a spiritual practice in contrast to a theistic or atheistic religion. see: Spiritual Practice
