I was just reading over the "How Sexual Was Your First Experience" thread (I won't post the URL here - as I write this it's about 2 or 3 down from this one). I hope I don't embarrass anyone by saying that I noticed that a number of people mentioned having lost their virginity somewhat late (bearing in mind that the average age - in Australia at least - is something like 16). I've always been a little embarassed about how late I lost my virginity (20), and was wondering whether this is a common thing with people here. Am I right? Does this have anything to do with having a tickling fetish, or just dumb luck?
Btw, I'm a little drunk, and I hope this makes sense.

I dont know...it may indeed be that with some people who have a fetish they are more likely to wait til they find someone who they are comfortable enough with to share it. I was 18 which is sorta late by today's standards but I had no sex before I was married.
Could be more than just a coincidence.

I was 18 as well...for me, it was waiting until I was ready...the guy turned out to be a shmuck later on down the road, but at least i was comfortable with him at the time...he enjoyed tickling me as well...😉 But I definitely waited for personal reasons--nothing religious or anything like that...when your friends are all goodie-goodies, and tell you repeatedly what a slut you are for kissing people in high school (when I don't know if some of them have seen an adult of the opposite sex naked yet and we're all 23!!!), and that you'll lose your virginity in about 5 minutes...well, it makes you hold out almost out of spite...plus, my mom got into a really bad situation when she was 18...and I wanted to hold out for her...because she didn't really get the choice...it had nothing to do with tickling for me...

lol I'm gonna be flat out honest here: I'm 19, and I haven't had sex yet. Why? Fuck knows. I am twenty one I still havent lost my virginity. Mainly because the one girl who I was in love with, who i trusted deeply and who I would eventually have had sex with had she wanted it, decided to do the dirty on me. I am a believer in that sex only comes after love. Love to me is the most important thing in a relationship. I could happily live forever without such a menial thing as sex, so long as the love is there is all that matters to me.

Anyone who says you are a loser for not having had sex only says that to hide their own insecurities. I have been asked by a good amount of very nice looking and very polite girls if I would like to date them but I declined because I did not feel love for them just friendship. And out of respect for them I would not simply date them just "because I could" or simply so I could have a "trophy girlfriend" upon my arm. I think you will find more people respect men like that more than they do some idiot who decides to shove his man meat into any orifice he can find simply because he thinks it makes him some sort of God (God of unholy sexually transmitted diseases and father of blasphemus mutations maybe?). I was 17 when I lost mine, and stayed pretty sexually active until I just became so horribly jaded with sex in general. All my partners were really vanilla except for one, so sex became more of a chore than anything. I truly don't see what the big deal about it is or why people treat it as something so special. I beg to differ sex is about embracing someone in both body and spirit. Eating, sleeping, breathing and drinking are "just something humans do" sex however is there for reproductive purposes and something to share between two people who love eachother.

Well...this may be a bit "off-thread"... as it's been a few years since I lost my own personal virginity (and I was also a late-bloomer - at 19)...but I absolutely love sex: the closeness, feel, taste, touch, exploration, and general high of connecting with another person. How about back right in the old days, when there was no protection what so ever and to reproduce was just a way of life.
What i dont like and you can shoot me down for this is the whole no sex before marrige and no protection thing, and no sex for pleasure only to reproduce. Ive had many , many friends try that because they are christian, but all of them have had sex and now dont see a problem with it.

I hear people talk about what society thinks and how society views things all the time. But "society" is really referring to a great number of people. Have you interviewed that many people, or are you responding to what TV and movies say society is like?
"Society" also doesn't work in absolutes; it doesn't do some things and not do others. People behave differently in different situations. Just about every possible attitude someone could have is present somewhere in society now and then.
