Notes

I am Monsuier Firmin's business associate Andre and shall continue the tale as follows.

Lot 666 then, a chandilier in pieces. Some of you may recall the strange occurance of the Phantom of the opera: a mystery never fully explained. We are told ladies and gentlemen, that this is the very chandalier which figures in the famous disaster. Our workshops have restored it with new wiring for the electric flambeaux, so that we may foresee a hint of its former glory. Perhaps we may frighten away the ghost of so many years ago with a little illumination eh gentlemen?

And now dear ladies and gentlemen, we reach the great choral scene in which hannibal and his army returns to save carthage from the Roman invasion under Scipto. Hannibal is played by Piangi, the Queen of Carthage is Carlotta and the two leading servant girls are Meg Giry and Christine Daae. Madame Giry, Meg's mother is the ballet mistress

I believe you are mistaken my dear Firmin, he specifically said he retired due to his health issues. He mentioned he would be resorting in Australia should we ever have the need to summon him.

ahh you mean the young lass whom you attempted to flirt with...and promptly ceased when Madamme Giry informed you she was her daughter? That would be meg Giry my friend.

Oh wait, you mean the brunette yes? Her name was Christine Daae...but I would keep away from her if I were you. She is LIKE a daughter to Madamme Giry...and I believe she already has a number of suitors at her call. I seem to recall the Vicomte of Chagny Raoul being one....and who was the other good sir?

I seem to recall hearing him haunting our Theatre which was quite damndable in of itself!

As for your question though, I believe she confided in Meg Giry regarding a certain "Angel of Music" who lived in her mirror and sang to her...I personally must be inclined to agree with Meg when she told our young rising star that perhaps she wasn't right in the head...what say you?

*sniffs disdainfully* indeed Firmin, in very bad taste indeed. I also seem to recall there being an underground complex lined with more of those tacky candleabras. I also seem to recall one night hearing a very faint voice....sounding much rather like young Miss Daae asking someone if "they were there yet?" and a rather gruff male voice replying "no" Do you recall any of this?

Indeed Sir, I don't think that happened though because afterwards, I began to hear the both of them singing accompanied by a beat which sounded typical of the 1980's...which would be rather odd since this is the late 1890's yes?

Don't forget Firmin that he gave her the grand tour of his *ahem* lovely estate, which included the famous "Wall of Crazy" which I heard is rather charming...in a campy kictsh way of course 😀 He also seems to be a purveyor of life-size mannequins sporting the latest wedding attire....now why could this be my former business partner in the junk business?

Dear Firmin just a brief reminder, his salary has not been paid. So until that is taken care of, I would keep any opinion about his work to oneself, rather than incur his wrath and allow an unfortunate accident to occur. You do remember what happened with that spoiled Diva Carlotta during our production of Il Muto yes?

Oh yes, send his check care of The Ghost by return of post

We should have heeded the notes and placed her in the role of the pageboy and cast Miss Daae in the role of the countess. After all, the role of the countess calls for charm and appeal, whilst the role of the pageboy is silent...which would have made the casting in a word, ideal.

*sigh* but like any other pubklic servant, we must give the public what the want yes Firmin? Our Prima Donna was indeed past her prime

Well he of all people should have known better yes? Was it not Buquett that regaled us with tales of the Phantom's magic lasso? Besdies, Madame Giry was always telling us to "keep our hands at the level of our eyes" its his own fault for not heeding good advice.

I seem to recall the pitter patter of feet upon our rooftop (don't ask how I heard it) and the soft melodic voices of a man and woman singing the most beautiful love song...perhaps it was our missing Christine.

And forgive me if I'm having delusions my dear Firmin, but did you hear a cry of anguish and pain shortly after the melodic singing ceased?

It very well could Firmin...I also found a crushed rose upon inspection of the rooftop when I investigated the disturbance...I had the oddest feeling I was being watched though.

And my friend, is it just me or is all we've heard since we came is Miss Daae's name?

Why Firmin? I'm shocked at your lapse of memory! It was only the prologue to a bright new year! We were only the toast of the town on that magical night!

It was the Spanish Inquisition my friend....NOBODY EXPECTS HIM!

I do believe he began tossing random insults about as well...despite him calling us a pair of morons I must say I enjoyed his quip regarding Carlotta....I also remember we were hardly bereft when that snooty Diva left

I don't think the Phantom had any interest in Madame Giry Firmin...remember he is strictly a one woman O.G Why he even obtained a life size mannequin resembling Miss daae in every way possible.

As to what they discussed, I believe it was either the works of an up and coming young writer named Gaston Leroux (why does he sound familiar) or the Phantom's tragic life in a Gypsy circus where he was horribly mistreated until Giry rescured him from the clutches of his oppressors...and as a final act of kindness, shoved him in the dank, smelly basement of the Opera Populaire to spend the rest of his days...Down Once More

I thought it was Raoul...but I believe he was too busy fluffing his hair and humming "I Feel Pretty" to do any driving....it could be the Phantom himself but would he know how to steer the horses after living underground for so long?

Your guess is as good as mine dear Firmin...I get my information from this dented old musical box with a creepy monkey on it...he doesn't do much...just sits there...looking creepy

Well now dear Firmin, it would seem from the endless amounts of fanfiction written by pathetic teenyboppers, I would say the swordplay came first...I could have sworn it was the taunting with the fireballs but what do I know right?

I seem to recall our dashing young Vicomte concocting some sort of plan to ensnare our Phantom friend. It was quite ingenious in its simplicity was it not?

I recall with stunning clarity my friend. Legions of uniformed officers carrying muskets and swarming 'round the premesis. What was he thinking? I also remember the role of Buquett was replaced by a tall cloaked figure sporting a cute little Zorro mask....now who could that be?

ah yes Firmin, the horrid insanity inducing terror of the third degree sunburn.

But was it just me or did he make too big of a deal out of it? I mean if he lay on his right side he could look good.....really good...shame Miss daae turned out to be so shallow yes? I think I heard the Phantom expressing his sorrow and frustration with her down once more.

He loved her very much Firmin, so much he was willing to do anything for her. And yet, she chose the vapid pretty boy instead of the man that could have made her truely happy. Wasn;t it heart wrenching when she returned his ring and we saw the tears in his eyes?

Well now that would be the fitting end wouldn't it? However I heard that he broke through a secret entrance in one of his underground mirrors. Which is true my dear Firmin? I refuse to believe the events I heard because they came from an unreliable source, an old washed up hack of a man named Joel Scheumacher...and word is around Paris one can't trust a thing that degenerate says.

Indeed I did Firmin, it was truely a shame. I heard the Vicomte himself paid respects at her funeral...he left that creepy monkey music box on her grave....as he walked away though I noticed a look of shock upon his face...and I cannot help but wonder if it was due to the rose with a beautiful diamond ring affixed to it lying at her grave as well....could our masked friend have placed it there?
