Nude modelling - porn

I've been thinking about nude modelling increasingly more the past little while.
... But then I got to thinking of 'complications', 'conflicts' that may be inherent in nude modelling:

Is nude modelling equivalent to porn? Is porn art? Is nude modeling immediately porn, and so it shouldn't be dressed up with 'modeling', but called porn, straight out? Does it have the capacity to still remain simply 'modeling', without any of the sexual connotation attached to it? Are there physical areas which may denote a picture as porn, instead of more 'mainstream' art?

Is there a difference between the two- What do you think? :huh

Nude modelling is art. Porn is when its done for the purpose of others getting off to it in the privacy of their own lives. If that is not the purpose, then it isn't Porn. UNless the artist wanted to mess wit people's heads.

Nude modelling however is ART. The human form is always going to be art.

porn is meant to be arousing depictions of sex!

As someone who's actually done some nude modelling, I can say that no, it wasn't porn. The nudity was simply there to capture the beauty of the human body in different poses and settings and lighting, and that's all there is to it.

It's a mark of immaturity not to be able to distinguish simple nudity from pornography, especially with that nudity is done for artistic reasons.

Nude modelling is usually called life modelling, when the model is posing for drawings or paintings. Having been working as a life model for several years, I can agree completely when I say it isn't porn at all 🙂

Like everyone else said. If you do it to create sexual arousal in the viewers, then it's porn. If you do it to show the beauty of form, not porn.

I've read that "Pornography" comes from Greek words for "Prostitute" and "Writing", ie it means writing about what prostitutes do. Thus Nude art is NOT pornography cause there's no sexual act going on.

Yes, I don't think it's porn (though I did have that presumption not long ago), necessarily. As was aforementioned, unless there are explicit actions taken/an obvious sexual meaning, when the image was initially taken, I don't think it's pornography either. Though, of course, it's all in the eye of the beholder. I mean, someone could be wearing an eskimo suit and that could be porn to someone; in essence, it's all in the person's head (though there are notable differences when initially taking the picture).

I just wanted to see other people's views on it, but it seems most everyone has the same views as I did: that it's NOT porn.

It all depends on two things
(1) the intent of the artist and model
(2) the interpretation of the viewer

After all, when God made Man, He declared it 'good' (and the woman 'very good'). It's how people fail to exhibit self-control that has muddied the water on that debate.

Ive gotta agree most with the Hawk. Ive done it a few times and never found it to be pornographic, but then I wouldnt want to either
