Obama Wanting To End The Cuba Trade Embargo...

One of the main reasons I am voting for Barack is because he wants to end the Cuba trade embargo. So now Americans (well I) can buy Cuban cigars on the American market 🙂

In seriousness, whether you are for Obama or not do you think ending the Cuban trade embargo is a good idea?

Well it's becoming a bit of moot point. Fidel is going to kick the bucket if he hasn't already. Even though Raul is more steadfast in his beliefs he has indicated that he is willing to allow some reforms. If he softens the oppression of the Cuban free press, allows other rights that other free nations enjoy then I'm sure we'll play ball. Fidel had the cult of personality about him because of his charisma, not so much for Raul. My guess is that when Fidel is confirmed dead the embargo will drop.

Umm...wait...

I got a small box (maybe 6 cigars?) for my dad, who enjoys them. I think cigars are gross...blunts are tasty...cigars, not my thing. But the one cuban I had was actually fairly tasty! (as cigars go anyway...)

I have friends who could not have their family come to their wedding due to the strict laws in cuba...only mom could come, but not the siblings. The 3 kids from that marriage don't know their family due to the tight ship run by the Cuban government...it's incredibly sad. I had a patient once who has dual citizenship and said that it is the most beautiful place on earth...and once Fidel kicks it, and laws soften, and more people go there to see what it really is, the world will change. I hope that, someday, based on this particular gentleman's description, that I get to visit Cuba...
