Jim Gardner first gave his last 6pm Newscast on WPVI from Philadelphia. As was not surprising with Gardner, Mr Gardner ended the newscast with a classy, emotional speech thanking his viewers for supporting him and the station he worked for, for more than 40 years .
Later that night, WPVI had a one hour retrospective about Gardner's career, with remembrances about Gardner from those he had worked with over the years. Viewers saw clips of Gardner during Gardner's career, and then, at the end of the show, Gardner gave a final brief closing word, and with that, was officially retired from his anchor position at WPVI.
Ross had already had an emotional day with Victor's retirement discussion, and Ross felt worse than he thought he would about Gardner's retirement.
Ross went to sleep that night, and , the next day, Ross had extremely important business to take care of, when he went to get his Botox shot.
Ross's Botox Doctor, Doctor K, a wonderful, kind, classy man, discussed in depth with Ross about Ross's condition. Ross told Doctor K that especially over the past two weeks, Ross had experienced excruciating migraines including pounding pain, dizzy spells, and pain that actually awakened Ross from sleep at night.
Doctor K was very sympathetic. Doctor K agreed to push Ross's shot intervals up from every three months, to every two and a half months. Hopefully, between that, and pain medication, Ross's condition would improve.
Ross got home, ate a light dinner, kissed Kayley goodnight, and went to sleep, very early for him.
About midnight, Ross was again awakened with excruciating pain, as Doctor K had told Ross that the full effects of the shot taking away the pain, would not be felt for anywhere between 14 to 21 days. Dr K had given Ross special migraine medication, but had advised Ross to wait and take the migraine med only under extreme circumstances of pain, while resorting to Tylenol otherwise.
The next day was a brutally cold day in New York City. Kayley, and Ross's father advised Ross to stay home. Ross agreed not to go into the office, but the always restless Ross got dressed warmly, and started walking around town. He came home tired, but the pain was not as bad.
"Mister, if you go near the O FF I C E, I swear, you will regret it" Kayley warned.
"Oh, dont threaten me, teacher with mega ticklish feet who I know hates to be tickled. The fact is that I want to rest, and I dont want to go there. I am however going to compromise and go right next door to my conveniently located home office, call into the actual office, and talk to any client I want, okay? If I feel pain, I will stop what I'm doing, lie down, and rest, fair enough, guard? " Ross shot back.

Ross threw on jeans, a polo and a blazer, and rode toward the office.
To conserve his energy and stay calm, Ross decided to say a normal Good Morning to Vic, and not get into the subject that Vic had brought up before Ross took the shot.
When Ross got to the office, there was a FEDEX package waiting for him. "Ross, this came yesterday, but we wanted you to take your treatment and rest. A guy who says he knows Fritz and Steve, says he wants to talk to you about investing in housing developments and small shopping centers in Lancaster, PA, and Hanover, PA, outside of Harrisburg. He would like you to read these, and for you to then talk to Fritz and Steve, and then call him" Ashley, Ross's secretary said.
Ross took the package "Thank You, Ashley, I will look at it"
Ross went into his office, put the package down on the desk, sighed, and just did not want to think about it.
Ross did not even want to contemplate talking to someone new about a new business deal while Ross was recovering from his shot, and waiting for his shot to work on his migraines.
