Can't wait to see it. After Pacific Rim, I'd love to see a giant monster movie with some good old fashioned backstory. Maybe we'll even see a plot device!

I sincerely hope this movie is awesome and does well enough in the box office to warrant making more Godzilla movies in which he fights other monsters. Could you imagine Godzilla vs Cthulhu? I think the whole Kaiju universe would blend particularly well with lovecraftian horrors and mythos. It would be awesome!

Godzilla vs Cthulhu? God I would give my KIDNEYS to see that (Godzilla would TOTALLY win though). 😉

Also, I long for ToHo to someday remake Godzilla vs. Megalon (complete with a totally awesome redesigned Jet Jaguar and villainous and badass redesigned Megalon and Gigan)! Maybe one day...

Yeah, Godzilla vs Megalon was a pretty good one, though Jet Jaguar was a total rip off of Ultraman. I also loved Godzilla vs Gigan and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla.

It's kinda hard to figure out which kaiju was Godzilla's most fearsome adversary. Yes Destroya took Godzilla to his limit (which ended up causing Godzilla to have to sacrifice himself to annihilate the oxygen destroyer breathing kaiju) but Mechagodzilla has the distinct honor of actually causing severe physical damage to Godzilla in two ToHo eras. Then there's King Gidorah (and his upgraded forms of Mecha King Gidorah and Kaiser King Gidorah).

Alot of it has to do with growing up watching Godzilla with my BBBFF (aka big brother best friend forever). My only disapointment was that in Godzilla vs. King Kong that the eccentric Japanese oil tycoon didn't try to secretly have a female Japanese idol sacrificed (via being kidnapped by the tribesmen and tied up and gagged on a sacrificial altar) to lure Kong out of hiding. Another great idea would have been to have that same Japanese female idol ending up kidnapped (by the Tycoon's men) and trussed up/gagged in a hotel and try to hop her way to an elevator only to glace at the building window and see Godzilla staring right at her (muffled screams of terror would follow).

Still, I love all Godzilla movies and this seems to have the makings of pure G'ster greatness! I also love how they had Oppenheimer's "destroyer of worlds" speech in there. It seems this movie will have a nuclear holocaust-type component to it (aka man's nuclear ambitions paving the way for his own destruction). This is sure to resonate with Japanese too (especially after the recent Fukishima reactor meltdown).
