....this is really starting to suck!!! I've not been able to access any parts of the chatroom here for about 2 weeks (the week I wasn't here at all I don't even account for). It's almost as if the whole kaboodle has just caved in somehow, and I've really been missing chatting with many of those who haunted it as often as I did and enjoying the camaraderie as we always had....

....I know it's not anyone's fault....but I'm missing chatting with Sultry, Ticklee, Kurch, Knox, bratgirl, bugman, and several others. Sure...I've become more active on the messageboard as a result of the chatroom's difficulties.....but I feel like something of a stranger in a strange land...like people are seeing my username on their threads all of a sudden and thinking '...who's THIS guy?' LOL....

....to the chatroom contingent (y'all know who ya are)....I miss you guys, and I hope everyone's OK and doing well these days....

Sultry has told me to do much the same thing....update Java....but the only java updating I know how to do is when I pour me a fresh cup of coffee.....as far as how to clean and dump superfluous files in a computer and updating ANYTHING??? Pssh.....may as well start talkin' Japanese......either way, I sit there like a doberman with that confused tilt of the head.

....me thinks it might be time to consult our local 'puter guru here.....unless there's someone here that knows enough about these damn things that can explain how to do these things and put it to me like I'm 4....LOL.

If you HAVEN'T updated Java, it is worth a try. To do so, attempt the following:

-Go to http://www.java.com
-Look for a big "Java Software Free Download" link on the main page, near the top
-Click that link
-Follow the instructions on the ensuing page (What instructions you receive depends on your browser
-Restart your browser when prompted or when the process has completed
-Attempt chatroom login again

I've had some reports that the updated chat hates some browsers with a passion. Firefox is soundly bad with it.

Try a different browser. It may make the difference.

Luv2,google is a search engine that allows you to find web sites.The browser is what displays the page on your monitor.There are several different ones,but i cant tell you how to change that,i have modzilla myself.Im sure HDS,Mimi,or a number of people here can help you with browser issues.

.....our beloved Sultry already enlightened me Sarge.....made the plunge and gave updating the ol' college try.......no dice.....

.....I've begun to resign myself to the fact that I might not ever be able to access the chats ever again.....

Hmm ... HDS just attempted to log on and was successful. Tell me, have you tried the downloading the latest version of the Firefox browser and then downloading the latest version of Java? That seems to work for me. Let me give you a walk-through.

Part 1
-First, go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ and download the installation file for the latest version of Firefox.
-Next, go to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and click the link labled "Download" next to "Windows (Offline Installation)". Save the installation file it prompts you to.

Part 2
-Now, you have two installation files. You'll need to install both of them. if you already have the latest version of Firefox, skip to part three.
-Install Firefox using the installation file you downloaded for it. Use default values for it.

Part 3
-Once installed, navigate to the TMF and log in.
-Now, go to the "Tools" menu at the top of the Firefox window. Click it once and then go down the menu to click "Options..."
-Click the "Content" globe/tab
-In the content tab, look at the first option. It should say "Block pop-up windows" with a checkbox on the left. On the right is a button labeled "Exceptions..." Click it
-In the box below the line "Address of web site" type in "www.ticklingforum.com" (No quotes) and then click the "Allow" button.
-Next type in "ticklingforum.com" (Note the lack of the www. Again, no quotes when actually typing it in) and click "Allow" again

Part 4
-Now, close Firefox. Double-click the installation file for Java that you downloaded earlier. Follow the instructions and let the install run. Make sure when it gives you a list of browsers with check boxes next to them that Mozilla/Firefox is checked.
-Once it is done, restart Firefox.
-Next go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
-Click the "Verify Installation" button
-Make sure that you get a page congratulating you on installing the latest version of Java. Make sure the version number, seen in the upper middle of the page, is "1.5.0_10"

Part 5
-Now, go to the TMF and attempt to enter the chatroom. Does it work?
