Ross landed in OKC about 10 pm OKC time on that Sunday night. He was met by Steve and Fritz, and the men went to an all night bar which served drinks, snacks, burgers, and chicken.
Ross ordered a burger and iced tea, while Steve and Fritz did the same.
After social pleasantries were exchanged, they got down to business.
"Okay, we are meeting with people for four or five days this time, what is the pool, and the expected signup, realistically? " Ross asked.
"We will be showing everything to five hundred people via Zoom and in person both at the office and at the fields. I figure we can get at least one hundred, which would be fine. Any less than that would be a disappointment. Any more than that would be good, half or more would be great" Fritz said.
"Good. Looking forward to tomorrow" Ross said.
Ross was driven to his hotel, checked in, went upstairs, texted Kayley and she called him. "I was concerned" She said.
"Sorry, I went to eat with Fritz and Steve and forgot to text. Will not do that again" Ross said.
"Okay, have fun, I love you. Keep me posted every day" Kayley said.
"Friday night late at latest, maybe late Thursday depending on how these shows go" Ross said, as he clicked her off.
The next morning, Ross, Fritz and Steve met at the office, and held a Zoom show for one hundred of the potential five hundred investors. After that, everyone drove to the sites, and the potential investors were given investment expectations, Yearly and total return projections, and so forth.
At the end of the day, twenty five definite yes, twenty five definite no, and fifty maybe, with thirty five leaning yes and fifteen leaning no
The first day had gone well.
Each day, the same pattern followed, with one hundred people being shown the gas strikes and wells, and the investors decisions coming forth.
At the end of the week, there were ninety definite yes, with thirty five more maybes.
Ross pushed his way through the meetings and shows, as, in spite of having had Botox two months earlier, his migraines had returned that week. His next Botox was not scheduled for another few weeks.
The men agreed to try to put off the next show until after Ross's Botox was done. Yet, if something did have to be done, and Ross was truly too ill or weak to make it, he could always participate via phone, email, or Zoom
Ross badly needed time off from the office.
Kayley knew that Ross was hurting, but she did not say much, knowing his Botox was coming up soon. She wanted to maintain the quiet relations between them,, and not start World War Three.
Before Ross's flight home on Friday night, Fritz said.
"Ross, we really appreciate you coming down to work with us. We know that your headaches have been bothering you the last week or so, and that your next Botox is not for a few weeks. If you truly cant come down due to your health, then please, worry about your health first. If someone wants us to do a show before your next shot, you can always talk to us on the phone, do a Zoom or we can put you on a conference call, discuss the numbers, and do it that way" Fritz said
Ross bumped fists with Fritz. "Thank You, my good friend and partner. You are a true gentleman, as is Mister Steve, our other partner. This has been going on for about a week. My doctor thinks it is just a spell until my next Botox. I dont complain much to Kayley because if I do, she will try to hire a nurse to confine me to bed. If this continues, I seriously might work from home more, and begin to think about how to scale down RossShell other than do whatever Tim wants, and what I need to do with you guys. Let's just see" Ross said.
Ross was driven to the airport, got on his flight home, landed in JFK about midnight, took an Uber home, and Kayley looked at him as he entered the bedroom. "You look terrible" She said.
"Thanks. I was off working hard this week, and those are the first words you have to say to your husband who is feeling terrible. No, "Hi honey how was your trip" Ross fired back.
"Ross, I'm worried about you. You dont have to talk. I see it on your face, in your eyes, and in your body, I know the headaches are bad" Kayley said quietly.
"Yes, they are bad. I pushed through the shows, came clean with Mister P and Steve about my situation, and told them that I may not be able to come back until after the Botox. The shows went better than last time. One hundred of the five hundred people should sign up. If this continues,. I will work at home, deal with Mister Patrick only when needed, and guess what? Begin to honor my promise to scale down the company and sell off, give up, or otherwise prune down unneeded accounts, okay, teacher? Please, just bear with me" Ross appealed,.
Kayley kissed Ross. "Of course, baby. Most important is your health, your happiness, our happiness, my health, and our marriage" Kayley said.
Ross had a successful trip to OKC. Unfortunately, his migraines had returned earlier than anyone expected. Due to the time frame needed between Botox treatments of three months, and it only having been two months since his last one, Ross might just have to push through the next month in spite of the pain. He would have to talk to his doctors, and see what if anything could be done.
What would happen next? With Ross's health? Ross and Kayley? Ross and his work?
That would be seen.
