Hello everyone, I'm sorry that I haven’t done anything with the chat program until recently. For those of you that do not know what I'm talking about, I tried to create a tickling chat program for the community a while ago (check www.geocities.com/shelper4 for info on the program). If you have the program, and use it, you will gain the password that will allow you to access my ftp server that contains all of the clips (a method to make the chat program popular fast, so everyone can get good use out of it, again please check the website for more info if you don't understand). The first couple of times I released it, I was unable to sufficiently beta test it first, having only two computers in my house, and it had many errors, again I apologize for this inconvenience.
When I attempted to release it the second time, I had some problems with my ftp server (not including the bugs in the actual program server) and was barely able to keep the program working a couple of days. After the second attempt at releasing it I put the program away and gave up for a couple of months 🙁.
Well I am happy to announce that a couple of weeks ago I began work on the program again, in an attempt to fix the many bugs involved from deleting users no longer connected to the internet, but to make a long story short I ended up re-writing most of the complex parts of the program in a much more efficient way...and from the limited testing I can perform I have found absolutely no big errors in the new version of the program.
I am still determined not to let the same thing that happened before, happen again. I will not release the program until I have at least 5 beta testers willing to download the beta version of the program (if any of you are wondering, this program, beta or final version, is not dangerous in any way) to help me sufficiently test it. I will work closely with these 5 testers for a couple of days (maybe longer, and maybe shorter, it could be an extremely quick experience if the program has few bugs) performing small tests. The testers will only need a connection to the Internet, and it will not take up much of their time. What will most likely happen is, I will end up telling all the testers a certain time to meet online on a chat program like AIM, then we will meet, and they will run the program, and perform the tests (don't get me wrong, you do not need any computer experience to be a beta tester, you will simply be running the program and reporting errors). If I find errors that I can fix easily I will fix them and send a quick update to the testers, if it is a bigger problem I will work on it overnight and hopefully have a working update by the next day.
This is a very important phase of the program creation, and it would nice to have volunteers. Of course there is also an upside to being a beta tester. The program normally gives everyone that signs onto it the password to my ftp server, which contains about 660 clips (over 1 and a half gigabytes) of tickling clips. When the final version of the program is actually released I will most likely limit the max number of connections to my server to 5 or 10 people, and if a lot of people are signed on it might be a bit slow of a download, but when the beta testers have the program they will all be able to connect to the ftp server at any time (because there are so few of them, compared to the massive number of people trying to connect when the program is actually released) and the connection will go much faster for them (basically beta testers will have first dibs at the ftp server, when no one knows the password accept for them).
Please, anyone that is interested in helping out E-Mail me at [email protected] telling me what times would be good for you to test, and some specifications of your computer (processor speed, ram, operating system, hard drive space, and most importantly your type of internet connection). All of these things (except for your type of internet connection) are not required, so don't worry if you don't know them, but it would help me in selection of the beta testers. Remember if I don't get at least 5 I won't release the program. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps out!
