When I was quite young, I remember watching a show on the Discovery channel about machines that operated based on certain principles ( I can't recall the principles but I do remember that self-playing pianos and certain washing machines were both used as examples).
However, what really caught my eye was a tickling machine that was posted around certain malls or other public areas in, I believe, England (although that may be a false impression created by the narrators accent). It was shaped something like a pop vending machine; the top half was a clear window into the machine, behind which lurked a model head of an older woman. The bottom was opaque, and there was a small hole near the floor. You'd insert your foot into the hole and pop in a coin, and the model head would look down at your foor, look back up, then swoop down out of sight. At that point your foot would get tickled by the machine.
Does anyone else remember this? It's been in the back of my head for over a decade so the details may not be precise and I may even have made up the whole thing, but the memory seems very clear (it made a very big impression on my mind at the time for obvious reasons) and I'm really interested to see if anyone has any information about it.
Thanks in advance! 😀
