My first confused awareness that I was interested in tickling to an unusual degree came while watching the old Fleischer Brothers Popeye Cartoons as a kid. To this day, I have a preference for tall thin women with big feet.
I've seen the topic of the Olive Oyl tickling scenes discussed before and always found it to be an interesting discussion; consider this my effort to start another one.
As I'm sure almost everyone knows, there are two primary scenes (there are otheres which I personally found not very compelling).
One is "Bridge Ahoy" - Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Wimpy are building a bridge in competition with Bluto's ferry service. Bluto raps a girder around Popeye and is smackked over the head with a rivet bucket by Olive. He slowly pursues her, backing her up until she falls off an I-beam and is left dangling by her feet. Bluto squats, grins and peels bakc the sole of Olive's boot, revealing her bare sole, which he begins to tickle, teasing "kitchee kitchee kitchee ...". The camera pans to Olive's face. Intially, she is worried about her predicament, then her face twist into helpless laughter due to the tickling. During a respite, she tries to keep herself from laughing by pounding her own head with her fists but thn bursts back into laughter.
The other is "Shiver Me Timbers". Popeye, Olive Oyl and Wimpy are exploring a ghost ship and are capturred by the ghosts, who proceed to torment them. Olive finds herself tied to the mast barefoot, her ankles tied to cleats on the deck, while milk trickles onto her soles from a milk can suspended above her. She ahs a surprisingly angry definat look on her face when a ghost appears holdign two cats. The cats are released and hop into position, one in front of each foot, adn begin to administer long ticklish licks that drive Olive Oyl wild with laughter. As the milk is cleaned, it is immediately replenished with another drop from the can on each sole. As I grew older, oftne fantasized wndered about the instructions which must have been given to the actress (Mae Questal) who did Olive's voice - "now in this scene, two cats are licking milk off your ticklish soles ..." and how she must have reacted.
There were at least four other scenes (near misses and such) that have fueled my fantasies over the years.
In "King OF The Mardi Gras", Bluto forces a reluctant Olive into he old "saw the woman in half" box, but she ruins the illusion when the box is seperated by extedning her retracted legs, revealing that only her boots are protruding from the seperated half by showing her big bare feet.. Olive sheepishly covers one foot with the other and is eventually forced to flee barefoot. I used to fanatsize that Bluo would seize her place her back in the box (this time with her bare feet protruding) and then ask the sideshow fat lady to tickle her feet in exchange for a free meal.
In "Never Kick A Woman" Olive is given a brutal boxing lesson by a husky voiced Mae West type. At one point, Mae places her own foot acoss Olive's big feet and deliver a series of haymakers, causing Olive's head and body to whip back (each time Olive's head whips back, its with a look of misery and with a new improbably complex hairstyle!). I fantasized about Mae delivering a punch which would knock Olive clean out of her shoes and send her crashing into a wooden door, which in typically logical cartoon fashion, would shatter and come down reassembled as a set of stocks, with Olive's head and bare feet protruding. Mae could then sashay over and purr, "Hmmmmmm ... looks like you've got yourself in a 'ticklish situation, eh Toots!" before tickling Olive's helpless soles.
In "Poopdeck Pappy", Popeye's 99 year old father sneaks out for a night on the town, ends up dancing with a burly guy's girl, swinging her by the ankles until he finds he's holding only a pair of empty shoes and nylons. With a loud crash, the befuddled girl finds herself seated in a base drum, first dazed, then surprised to see her own bare feet. In my version, Popeye and Olive would arrive and Olive would prove the girl was unharmed by mischievously tickling her defenseless soles.
Finally, there was one called (I think) "Women Are A Jinx" in which Olive stows away on Popeye's ship despited the sailor's warning that women are a jinx at sea. The angry crew searches for Olive. She manages to avoid one engry crew man by slithering her skinny form through a pipe. He tries to follow and gets stuck; his legs and bare feet protruding from the pipe. I fantasized about Olive impishly finding the sailor trapped and punishing him/amusing herself by tickling his prefectly presented soles.
Well, maybe this will provoke some discussion. A strange interest, true, but what the hey ...
