Thank you Barbershopman! Yes indeed, that "Shiver Me Timbers" sound snippet is certainly in there! So are bits and pieces of dialogue and grunts/moans/tittering from a couple of dozen non-related Fleischer Popeye cartoons. I culled out just about everything useful I could find online so there'd be plenty to choose from when I started editing the sound track together. Some of the most effective stuff came from entirely unexpected sources, such as Olive fumbling while on skates or trying to reattach an oxygen hose when Popeye was deep-sea diving. The actors must have had a riotous time during those recording sessions!

This was so wonderfully done. This was such an awakening and turn-on for me when I first saw it as a kid. I also use to fantasize a turn-about .... when Brutus is hanging by his hands and Olive tried stomping on them .... when she tries with both feet and he lets go and turns around, I always pictured him holding onto the girder with his feet. Popeye then tears back both soles and Olive tickles one foot while Popeye tickles the other .... giving Brutus a taste of his own medicine and seeing how long he can hold out. There is always something about being in a situation where you MUST put up with the tickling that is even better than bondage to me. Thanks for all your great work!!!! Keep laughing!

Thank you Letrah2! 😊 Bluto would get a short comeuppance in one of the Famous Studios Popeye cartoons,

but I can't recall anything similar every happening to him in the Fleischer shorts. The scenario you describe would certainly suite that need and be well deserved! It does indeed better bondage in that he (and in the original, Olive) aren't required to put up with the punishment. All they would have to do is straighten out their ankles and let go their hold... and risk a possible soggy death in the river water below! The element of choice adds dynamic excitement to the jeopardy, something that restraint doesn't allow for. It's actually rather surprising that there isn't any artwork reflecting this reversal; now that you've suggested it, it'll be interesting to see if we get some! The idea certainly puts a fresh spin on the well-loved longtime standard! If not done graphically, perhaps in the story section. Something to keep a sharp watch for!
