I had the honor of knowing an Arizona survivor many years ago. By a stroke of fate he was ashore that fateful morning, which may well have saved his life. Years after the war, some Navy divers were surveying the ship and found a ring. After cleaning it up the Navy was able to read the inscribed initials, match them against the roster and return it to Mr. L. He later gave the ring to his son, my friend Don, who wore it proudly until his own death.
