When Ross got to OKC, Ross found out from the attorney whom Alan Hell had recommended, that Tazzio had wanted to move "Full speed ahead " to hurt Ross as much as Tazzio could.
The question was, were Tazzio's claims all bullshit, and hot air, or did they have any validity?
The attorney representing Ross told the Court that the attorney needed ""Thirty Days" to examine everything and prepare a proper response"
The judge did not like it, but, legally, the judge knew that such a request was not unreaoable.
Thus, the judge reported his decision to Tazzio';s lawyer, and basically told the lawyer and Tazzio to "Shut up and let the legal process play out" even if not in so many words.
Alan Hell and Tom from Phiadelphia got Ross on the phone in a conference call when Ross got to OKC and told Ross.
"Just focus on your trip. Let us deal with this. Depending on what Tazzio and Tazzio's lawyer do, we can spin this thing around to drive both Tazzio and his lawyer crazy, and delay it so long, that it will not be worth Tazzio's legal fees for him to keep coming after you. Just work on your work in OKC, and we will be in touch when you get home" Tom said.
"Thanks, guys, you guys are aces" Ross said.
Ross got off the phone and smirked.
How ironic that Tom had turned from a hard nosed asshole into one of Ross's best advocates. Strange what a few lectures from Alan Hell and some clients profiting from Oil and Gas would do.
Ross's head was literally spinning. He did not want to go to the field, but he was also down there to do his regular work, and Ross knew that he did not have a right to delay Steve, John, Fritz, or any investors because of a separate problem which Ross had.
"Ross, how about to give you, twenty four hours to clear your head, we have investors discussions between us today, Zoom intros tomorrow, shows Wednesday and Thursday, and you get out of here, so you are home Thursday night or Friday morning at latest" Steve said.
"That sounds great, partner, and thanks. I will tell the teacher that I had a problem and that we had to delay the shows a day. Bottom line, I really should look at the particulars of the value of what we are trying t do here, and the value of exactly what we are trying to sell, so that if someone , a potential investor asks me a question, I do not sound like a moron" Ross said, as everyone laughed.
Ross and Steve studied the numbers and potential investor list that day, and that evening went to visit Fritz at the rehab center. Fritz was progressing very nicely, and within 30 days, might be allowed to go home.
"Boys, by the next time old Ross comes here, I might be able to join you all in the office, or at least in a conference call from home" Fritz said.
"Nothing would make us more happy, Mister P. For now, God Bless, and just get well, and we will talk to you from here tomorrow" Steve said.
Ross went back to the hotel. When he called Kayley, she knew his voice did not sound right.
"Okay, boy, spill it!" Kayley said.
Ross sighed. "Fine,. teacher slave driver. I had a problem with Tazzio and had to talk to my attorneys. It is being dealt with, so the things down here were delayed a day. They start tomorrow, through Thursday, and I will be home Thursday night" Ross said.
"Okay, I understand. Sorry you had a bad day. Hope tomorrow is better" Kayley said.
"Thanks, Babe" Ross said, and hung up.
Ross slept not badly, as he knew that he had a lot of work ahead of him.
The next morning, Steve and Ross met for breakfast, went to the office, and connected Fritz and other investors via Zoom.
About one hundred people listened in. (The next two shows would be largrr)
The fields that were on auction this time were relatively new, so the men started the bidding at $50,000 a partner instead of $100, 000 to attract interest.
Other incentives were discussed, such as founder/initial investor profit sharing on wells, etc.
At the end of that day, many investors were impressed, seventy signed up, with the old "We might know some people to help you if these wells pay off good"
All in all, a great day.
Steve and Ross had a big dinner with a banker who might be able to direct them to a medium sized company to fold into RFS Energy.
Both Steve and Ross knew it was unchartered territory. The only companies which RFS ever bought were small ones that they basically "swallowed up" and folded into RFS.
Ross felt uncomfortable, and said "We need to step very carefully" Steve agreed, and almost felt that John Fish and Fritz would never go for it.
For now, it was "on the back burner, and focus on the current shows"
On Wednesday a much larger show was presented. Three Hundred people onsite at the field.
Explanation by Steve, and the foreman, with 125 signups, and some "maybes. "
Dinner that night between Steve, Ross and another banker.
On Thursday, Ross checked out of his hotel, and went to the field with Steve.
250 potentials that day.
75 signed on the dotted line.
All in all a good week.
Steve drove Ross to the airport.
Ross and Steve said goodbye, and said they would talk that Monday.
Ross got on the plane from OKC. Changeover in Dallas.
About 1 am. Ross opened the apartment door.
Kayley was on the couch., dozing.
Instead of greeting her, Ross ran into the bathroom, and had a violently upset stomach, "Both ways"
Ross threw off his clothes, and crawled into bed.
Kayley came into the bedroom.
Ross was wretching in pain in bed, with violent shooting pains in his stomach.
"Ross?" Kayley said, sitting near her husband.
"Please dont talk, Kale. Room spinning, stomach killing me. Dont know if this is a migraine, something I ate , stomach virus, or worse" Ross whimpered.
Kayley sat with Ross through the night.
It was not good.
What would happen when the morning came?
That would be seen.
