How many people might be intertested in a tickle gathering in
Ontario, probably around the greater Toronto area?
Lets see how many people we can get together......

I'll be in T.O. for a conference at York University in late October. I'm a male tickler, but I'm good at organizing gatherings... my ex-wife and I (we're still friendly) did quite a few in Albany NY USA. Contact me and we may be able to pull something together.

Hey Adam!

York University eh? Why on Earth would you need to go to that black hole for education? (I should know, two of my degrees are from there!)

I'd be interested in some kind of gathering in Toronto, keep me posted.

Thanks...

I'm going to York U. for a conference, not a degree. I'll be in town for about three to four days in late October. All my degrees come from the United States of Jesusland.

(Insert inappropriate and off-topic comment here about the vacant look in the eyes of our Idiot-In-Chief. But I digress.)

To get started, we need to find either someone's home and/or a hotel.

Once that is secured and confirmed, then we publicize the hell out of it: forums (like this, tickletheater.com, and others), mailing lists (i.e., groups.yahoo.com), and word of mouth.

Using a questionnaire (to filter out the [relative] weirdos) has been very successful. Josie and I had success by controlling the number of each gender to ensure a (relatively) balanced turnout.

Because you're the local, I imagine you may want to start on this; I've only been to T.O. once (for a week in June 1997, for another conference) and I have no idea where things are.

Keep in touch!

Well, to get started, someone's house would be nice. Mine is out - too small, not central, and I don't feel like explaining the noise...

Hotels in TO can be somewhat expensive. There are a couple of decent ones by York U (Finch and Highway 400) but I don't recommend people wandering far from them.. it's not a nice area (Jane & Finch is nearby)

The more central the hotel the more expensive we are looking at. Way-the-hell-out-there hotels start at $79.95 a night. Goes up as you approach the downtown core. Advantage is public transit closeness and proximity to Union Station and the main bus terminal for those who are coming in that way.

Lots of choices. I welcome anyone else's input... I have the organizational skills of a retarded money on crystal meth.

And thus i throw my hat in the ring as a local torontonian.

As for my 2 cents. I think, if you do manage to scrounge up enough people, that you'd want to go with a hotel. it doesnt have to be that expensive really. i mean, you get a small suite at the days in at church and carlton, i'm sure that doesnt set you back to much. and i've been to a hotel party there before, its not too shabby. Anyway. Just add my name to the list and good luck on your adventure.

cheese.

I'd like to point out that it doesn't HAVE to be at anyone's house... technically, the hotel might actually be enough. All play can take place in the various rooms.

I attended NEST in Philadelphia in late April/early May 2005, and the organizers also rented out the decent-sized conference room for two days (I think). Not a whole lot of play occured there, but I imagined that's because the real time-and-place for play was a BDSM club somewhere in Center City Philadelphia (that's downtown/Centre-Ville to you and me). But a lot of play happened in the rooms.

The bottom line is that flexibility and adaptability are important, as well as catering to the wants and needs of those who attend.

Well now, all we need is some brave soul to step up and organize things!

I just saw this thread. I am also in T.O. and very interested in participating. Sadly, I'm a newcomer to town and don't really know much about the different options for hotels and the like but I'm willing to help out when it comes to the surveys, letting other boards know and other things you'd need
