Origin of tickle torture in animated cartoons

What do you think was discussed amongst the writers of the animated cartoon series television shows that ended up with the classic tickle torture scenes we have immortalized in our memories and in our computers?

lol...Sometimes I wonder if it's not a little discreetly placed stimulation meant for the adults. Maybe it's because any other forms of torture would be too violent to put in a kids cartoon. Interesting question.

Perhaps there are some tickle philes or fetishists working amongst the writers and executives. I have my fingers crossed for more of us to be in those positions.
