Paid Mods?

Hi All! Well, I finally bought me a new X-One about a week back. I have installed Skyrim and Sims 4 so far.

I was on Bethesda.net looking at Skyrim mods this morning, and saw where a moder was threatening to take his\her mods down in an effort to get paid for his mods.

The way I look at it, they could never charge for mods, due to the fact that a lot of mods, in one way or another, cause glitches in your game. I have had to uninstall and reinstall my game a lot, in the past. And all because of a faulty mod.

I think I have found a good mix now though (I have 23 mods going now, out of the 40 some I had before. The best of which is Ordinator)

So, Unless the maker of the mod wants to hire testers and pay them to test the mods I don't see them ever charging for mods.

The problem with paid mods is that out there in the community there is someone who's going to do it for free. I understand wanting to get paid for your work, but the mod community has never been like that.

I remember the backlash from the modding community (mostly from authors themselves) when Steam tried to introduce paid mods (Dwarven armor mudcrabs anyone?) They eventually back tracked that and came up with the Creation Club, which is just okay in my opinion. One of the creation club modders still releases her mods for free on Nexus anyways.

Personally I prefer the donation option on Nexus, because then the authors get 100% of the donation. No cuts or over head. In fact, the backlash from the Steam incident lead to many authors getting a good chunk of donations anyways. If an author does great work, I will totally support them.
