If this looks fimilar, it should. I always liked the scene in the opening of WHR where Robin is playfully trying to balance herself on the side of the street as she walks along it. I've always thought that this displayed her innocence despite her given profession. Its one of those short-lived situations where you get to see her relaxed and unbothered by who and what she is, and what she's called to do.

She has her suitcase in the opening, which implies that she's waiting for an STN-J escort to pick her up and drop her off at STN-J headquarters. The scene implies that she's recently arrived in Japan (from Italy), which is how the first episode starts, with her arriving at STN-J

I used a screen capture as a reference for this.

Drawn/painted in Painter IX

Note that browers are usually set to resize hi-res pictures so they fit onto the screen. So to see the original size, click it again once it's loaded.

There's a good deal of warmth in this picture, that despite the predominant gray tone, the angry sky and funereal clothing. Robin's guilelessly bright "little girl" demeanor and fair features (much aided by the free sweep of her hair) is an incongruous focus for this coldly foreboding cityscape (here simplified to an impersonal blur, with effective canyon depth achieved by the layers of ashen building, lamp-post and traffic). The contrast makes her seem rather insular and self-confident. As she appears grimly focused, determined and humorless in most other representations of her I've seen, I'm pleased we caught her on a good day!

I see I've been unlucky enough to follow an LBH review yet again. But, just as the postal service delivers always, with rain and sleet and hail and sno ... oh, not in Denver. XD Anyway, HDS will try. =)

I like the pastel-esque style, I do. To this one, at least, it lends a sort of still-capture air, with a scene full of life instantly transcribed to watercolor print, preserving vibrancy. With how dark so much of WHR was (When not lit by fire or glowing orbo or whatever that stuff was, at least), the perforated cloud cover, letting light and life shine through, is quite the appropriate background for this lighter scene, aye aye. That all said, HDS wishes he'd actually seen the opening, or at least been able to recall it, as he does not have the real scene to compare this to. HDS sad. ;_;

Thanks, guys. I've done my fair share of WHR pictures, but I think I can still make some more.

Here's the opening:

The part where she's balancing herself is from 1:18-1:22. Its only five seconds, but thats the focus here. You also see her at the end sitting and standing by herself looking like she's waiting for someone.

When you see the clip and then my picture you'll see how they're different, too.

Indeed, there is a bit of difference, aye aye. That said, I think you did grab the scene in terms of backdrop quite well. ^^x

I like my picture, but the animation does the scene more justice because its...well...animated, and we can see her movements as opposed to what would be just one frame of it.

The biggest difference, which you could probably tell is in my picture its overcast. I also drew her left hand in a position it wasn't in the animation.

The music is great. The whole opening is. Theres several drawing ideas you could get just from that 1 minute and 29 seconds, alone. ^^

Bump.

Until we get that non-tickling artwork forum thats been in the works, I'm going to be bumping my threads, as necessary (even if they are new). Its not something I usually do, so hopefully it will be tolerable (heck, other people do it and no one complains).

For those of you that look at threads like these and wonder "what the hell is something like this doing here mixed with out photographic fetish content", I totally agree with you. I also totally agree with those that find it irritating, since you shouldn't have this mixed with your stuff and we shouldn't have to have our art mixed and bumped with your content, either. So lets look forward to the forum. Hopefully it will be sooner than later.

Win-win. Yummy-yummy.

We are working on that. Nessonite and Missy Val are working out the final kinks, with HDS standing by the implement.

Yeah? So it can be random like the toy in a happy meal?! No thank you. I remember those! I wanted Sonic that one time, and they gave me Knuckles, damnit! It may have been many years ago, but I remember like it was yesterday! McDonalds, I'll never forgive you. 😡

"Look, man, I'm in the prime of my life, cause I live the way I got to! I'm gonna make me some money again! I'm gonna fight! I've got my turn to be the champion of the world!"

(Bump)

Since it seems threads are being bumped (by the artist or others) for the new non-tickling artwork forum, I'll bump a few of mine. 🙂
