Ok...now for the other side of the coin. I have personally
had nothing but trouble with Paypal. Likewise, I know many who
have also had their fair share of grievances. Paypal is not
as secure as they claim. You must now pay to guarantee
that security in the form of an "insurance fee". Otherwise...you
take your chances.
Paypal will block the use of the debit card for anything they think
is odd. Meaning..if you don't normally go out for dinner..and then you
decide to. It will note that and block your card so the next transaction you attempt won't work. My friend's card was blocked
4-5 times a month for two months before he said screw it and cut it up.
Paypal is not allowed to operate in several US states.
They also paid hefty fines to the State of NY for gambling which
they are no longer allowed to deal in. Their rule requiring
any plantiff filing a legal grievance to come to Santa Clara, California (where they are based)to do so was overturned by a Judge. People with $50 grievances shouldn't have to travel across country to deal with them.
Paypal is no longer taking funds for adult sites...so no matter what anyone of us might consider tickling...if Paypal views your
site as adult content then it will not accept payments on your behalf.
Paypal by their own admission hides their customer contact #'s
to avoid calls. They prefer e-mails so they can send you form letters.
In addition, Paypal has at least 12 class action lawsuits
against it from individuals who have lost money as both
buyers AND sellers ranging from a few hundred dollars to
tens of thouands of dollars.
In my case, I was screwed for about $1000 that paypal
won't give back. Basically...their policy is that
complaints must be filed within 30 days or they are ignored.
If a complaint is filed after 30 days the seller
is not informed....until the seller ammasses enough of them.
Then their account and money is frozen. They must then supply proof
of delivery or supply of goods or services. For me, I had
10 unresolved complaints over the course of 12 months. I was never notified about them until paypal zinged me. Turned out they were ALL
complaints customers meant to cancel but never did. I supplied
proof of reciept on all items...I did this several times...by e-mail...by phone..by fax...multiple times on each. Finally, after nearly 6 months, all but one complaint was resolved. The final
one for $1000 could not be resolved because by the time Paypal got around to checking on the Delivery Confirmation...it was no longer in the Post Office database. They told me it was it would not be considered valid and I would not be returned my money. The customer of course, was nowhere to be found so I got screwed.
So that is my view...paypal is great for lots of people...it also sucks for lots of people. When your the one who gets reemed...and it
can happen...you may change your mind about Paypal. For more info visit....
