PBS special w/ Alan Alda

I'm sure many of you have seen this before, but here is a link to the site for a PBS show hosted by Alan Alda, where one of the segments is devoted to the question of why we can't tickle ourselves. Christine Harris is the researcher who uses a fake "tickle machine" to investigate whether ticklishness is dependent on people believing another person is doing the tickling. couple of observations;

Lab assistant must be a much more entertaining job if you can get the right assignments, apparently.

Alan said Noriko was a pretty ruthless tickler. Not a bad compliment.

Still, being on TV like that probably gets a lot of "hey baby, wanna play 'tickle machine'?" come-ons from potential suitors. hehe.

hell, I'd let her tickle me, and I don't normally go there.

College Girl 3, thanks for the tip! Too bad two of the three ticklees had to be male . . . I would have loved to see the scientist or her assistants get tickled.

I knew someone would mention this one...
We just happened to have the TV on PBS that night a couple of years ago when it was aired, back when Mrs. Knox and I were living in our old condo. My thought was, "Jesus, this is embarrassing." And then, I REALLY regretted that it wasn't the lab assistant in the chair. To me that would've been worth the price of admission!
Why embarrassing? Because trust me, I ain't in it to see Alan Alda get tickled any more than I would Ronald Dumsfeld, Larry King, or even Janet Reno. No way... 😡

Movie and TV tickling

Not only that, Knox, has anyone else notice the majority of movie and television tickling scenes have MEN as the victims? Even when the perpetrator is male, too often he's tickling another guy. What is wrong with Hollywood? It seems as though for every SIRENS there are ten Alan Aldas getting tickled.

...you need to browse the mainstream lists a bit more. The female section is about ten times longer than the male. 😉

That segment isn't a real turn-on, but is specifically about tickling, which is nice 🙂
