Pedicures...

Hi everyone, I'm new to the board. I stumbled upon this place and was amazed by how big this community really is!

Anyway, I'm secretly fascinated by tickling but I get so embarrassed when someone even so much as brings up the subject in public. This is why getting a pedicure is complete agony for me. My mom and sister and I go together on a regular basis during the summers (I wouldn't even consider if I wasn't so vain!!) The second the pedicurist touches my feet I jump. It's bearable when she files my nails at first, but the WORST is when she gets out the rough scrubby thing, picks up one foot at a time, and starts scrubbing all over it. I get so nervous that I clench onto the seat and try to look like it doesn't bother me, but occasionally if it's really bad I can't help twitching or giggling. Even though this lasts maybe two minutes it feels like forever, and I feel like the entire place is watching me! Usually the lady can tell too, and she looks up at me, and casually says something like "ticklish?" Isn't anybody when they're getting the bottoms of their feet scrubbed mercilessly? My mom and sister don't seem to be so bothered... they'll laugh out loud and squirm in their seats and announce to everyone that it tickles. Does anyone else get so embarrassed like this? Have you all had similar ticklish experiences with pedicures? I'll admit it's torture for me but I love to secretly watch everyone else getting scrubbed out of the corner of my eye!!

Bienvenue, welcome to the boards, nice to have you around. Sorry to say, I can't relate with the pedicure thing, but I am a bit uncomfortable when I'm tickled in public. I think most guys are. Anywho, have fun, have a drink, and enjoy the community.

My most beloved Mistress Zara gets a pedicure every two weeks. She is ticklish, but enjoys it rather than being embarrassed by it. She giggles when the pumice stone is used, and sometimes tells the pedicurist to hold her foot tightly, so she won't accidently kick her.

I have the hardest time enduring pedicures myself so I can relate. I prefer to do that stuff at home. That way I can control it much better and I don't kick anyone! LOL

Remember that most people do not think of tickling as any more than just a cute form of torture. Only do we ticklers get that feeling in us when tickling is being discussed. So acting nonchalant is the best way to not stick out if you are embarrassed about your desire of tickling....

Being somewhat of an expert on pedicures by way of obsession, I feel like I have to say something here! :

I have a standing appointment at my salon for every Thursday at 10:00a.m. to have my feet pampered. I've been doing this for a couple of years. It started as my "quiet time" when the world could kiss my bum as I had more inportant things to do!! Bogata Blackberry or Million Dollare Red? Choices! Choices! I couldn't be bothered by the pains assoiciated with living in the real world! Now? It's habit...and my feet are nearly always picture perfect. LOL I pay enough money to the salon that I feel I can say this!! 😉

I know when I walk in and see the chair, that I will shortly have a sensation crossing my foot unlike any other. I sit in the waiting area just KNOWING that it's going to tickle. It won't be like the playful touches shared by a tickle pal, or the game tickles when my kid attacks. It's tickles that render me confused because they are a by product of something that as a whole is completely and totally relaxing!

Kiem is the man who has been my pedicurist for two years. He has an assistant Tam, who is very good, but not as good as him! He knows I'm ticklish. He ALSO knows I like it. He also knows I have this "thing" about my feet. When I am in his remote controlled massaging chair, a pedicure lasts about twice as long as usual becuase he's so detailed and careful with my feet!

He uses a firm grasp and has been a master of scrubbing my feetsies in such a way that they are as soft as the petals of a rose, but they don't tickle. I've even managed to doze off a couple of times because I know I'm safe through various parts of my pampering. He gets "lazy" sometimes and the scrubbing tickles me. After he peels me off the ceiling, we're back to the normal routine!

HOWEVER!!----Kiem has a mean streak! At the end of my careful pampering, he massasges my feet and legs, and he puts his nails to use! He intentionally scrabbles the tops and bottomss of my feet and my ankles whilst he he says,"Time for the Princess to wake up!" Mind you, I'm never asleep!!! GRRRRR....I can't stand it on such freshly tenderized tootsies! I ALWAYS scream out a laugh tell him to "STOP!" He never does until I am about to pop out of the chair! I love this man. He always earns his tip! 😉

Pedicures...ahh....go get one, they are delightful! (And pick Million Dollar Red!)

Unfortunately, I cannot relate to the pedicure experience. However, I can say that being tickled in public does not embarrass me. I actually enjoy the attention because if more people know that it does not bother me, they may try it more often, and that's my chance to get them back. Hence, I get my change to tickle people under very "normal" circumstances.

I have been to places where they give pedicures and I enjoy watching and listening to the ladies laugh when they get their feet scrubbed. Some of them notice me watching and smile at me. I just simle back and say "it looks like you are having a great time, can I try?". Of course, they think I am joking. However, I am waiting for the day one lady will accept my invitation to scrub their feet. 🙂

Hi. I haven't posted in ages but this topic is near and dear to my heart in many ways. I have the exact same feelings when getting a pedicure. It doesn't tickle me so much, but when it does, I would NEVER let it show! Hearing the word "tickle" in public is extremely embarassing to me. But like you, I do sneak a peak at the others squirming in their chairs!

I give myself pedicures, because I don't want to injure a pedicurist (when I kick wildly because they accidentally tickle me), nor do I want to suffer the severe blood loss that would occur if I were to flinch while having my toenails shaped! As it is, I have finally learned to sit in the shower while using a pumice stone; I would hate to have to go to the emergency room and tell a doctor that I fell during my pedicure. 😀

Speaking from personal experience, I can attest to lite's proclivity to falling when her her feet are being torment.....uh..................pedicured while standing up. & I've even offered to "help", to no avail..... 😉

I do my own pedicures, partly because I refuse to spend the money they want around here and partly because I'd go nuts with someone else doing it. While my feet aren't my most ticklish spot, they ARE very ticklish. I think I'd end up kicking someone too. I've kicked my dear hubby plenty of times when he tickle massages my feet. (We use restraints now.) 😀

QBWeaver, Affectionate Dan, and Hawkikim will remember how desperate I was to get a pedicure on the day of NEST. We walked all the way up to a nail shop just to see the word CLOSED in evil menacing red letters... sigh. And then I proceeded to ask every store owner and girl with cute feet if there was a place I could go to get my feet pampered.

Finally at QB's urging... I went into a hair salon and asked a stylist if he knew of a place. Thank God... HE DID ... and THANK THE LORD it was open.

That day I received the best pedicure I had ever had in my life! Did I care that NEST had started and I was 10 blocks away? NO.... LOL... I have had a few pedicures in Georgia and they actually were very uncomfortable... The pedicurist were rough and quick and sloppy... and I have always left disappointed if not fuming.

The girl in Philly was absolutely wonderful.... And Yes it tickled like crazy. I began to giggle and she asked me, "Are you ticklish?" And I said, "Yes but I love for my feet to be tickled." And she smiled... so did everyone else in the shop. I sat there as she scrubbed my feet with the pumice stone for about 8 minutes... NO LIE.... It was wonderful! And my feet felt wonderful. I gave her a tip! And have not had a pedicure in Georgia half as good since... BUT... I will be in Philly next week... and I surely will go back! Woohoo! LOL

Now... JOBELLE... your job is to find me a shop in Georgia that is good! GO GO GO! LOL 😀

Pedicures

Like Joby, I have a "standing appointment" (ugh, pardon that pun) with my local salon for either bi-weekly, (when finances permit) or monthly pedicures. I won't try to mislead anyone by saying it *doesn't* tickle, (because it does) but it's a necessary evil! Being in and out of skates (sometimes up to) several times per week can take it's toll on a gal's peds - and I'm grateful to have established the relationship with my Esthetician that I have, thus she's well aware of how sensitive my feet are. She's always careful to grasp my feet firmly, and goes out of her way to ensure I'm comfortable at all times... Bless her heart!

P.S. Joby, if you ever grow tired of your aforementioned red, Creative's "Cuppa Joe" is a great colour!
