Peoples' reaction to tickling fetish

Firstly, I'd like to say hi to everyone here - much as I've been lurking around for ages, this is only my second (?) post. Anyway, this is kind of a follow-on from TKDANNY's post below ("Secret Identity"). On the whole I have been pretty secretive about this tickling fetish thing myself, but not long ago I told a couple of friends about it and, surprisingly, they were actually pretty dismissive about it. Bearing in mind that these are people with some fairly far-out sexual tastes themselves, their first response was to point out that tickling was a normal part of most peoples' sexuality etc., and after having to explain at some length what I meant by having a tickling fetish they were eventually a little disappointed that my big dark secret wasn't something a bit more interesting (or sordid or something). And while I have only told a few people about this (my ex-girlfriend, my former psychologist, my current psychiatrist, etc.), I have received a similar reaction from almost all of them. So I was wondering what kinds of responses other people have gotten from people they have told, and whether they were along these lines.

I hav never had a bad reaction from telling anyone about my thing for tickling...but I finding tickling not always as sexual as most so as a "fun" thing many people are unfazed. One gf who found out by discovering a stash of magazines was a bit taken aback...lol...she became my wife.

In my opinion, she [the female acquaintance of you and your wife] is the one who should grow up. She should realize that consenting adults should do what they find to be fun. Hmmm... it could be interesting. For me the realisation that I have a thing for tickling is very new to me and also I havn't exactly had a long term gf yet to express this new revelation to either. But promising news is that a couple of my feminine friends that I've been able to tickle on a few occasions definately don't object to me tickling them, apart from the normal defence reactions its just having fun to them (as it is to me)... and come to think of it they actually had a few pokes at my sides before I'd even known about TMF.

So though I'm yet to tell someone about the tickling thing, I'd reckon its relatively harmless and if you choose your people correctly... there wouldn't be much problem.

I would hypothesize that people's reactions to the tickling fetish may be based on their understanding of fetishes themselves as well as bad memories of being tickled.

I've said it before and I'll say it again! Our tickling fetish is not that bad at all compared to some other things that are out there...and I'm sure the majarity of ppl out there would be very accepting of it. The ppl who wouldn't be accepting of it would be ppl who wouldn't be accepting of a lot of things! There are ppl out there who love to see females vomit, shit, piss etc...GROSS...imagine what most ppl would think of THAT...when you compare stuff like that to our little fetish it suddenly becomes so nothing to be ashamed of!!!
None of my friends or family have a problem with it! I really think we don't have to be nearly as afraid of ppl finding out as some might think...but then again secrets are fun to have! So keeping it a secret ain't bad either but trust me, it's not a train smash if someone finds out!

I think this post is a good example of just how much we can let something grow significantly bigger than it really is, in our minds. Half the time what we're afraid of, is hardly important at all.

Most of them never happened" I don't know if that's the exact quote, word for word, but the point is that our greatest fears are usually in our own head. We're all convinced that people will think we're weird, or perverted, but judging by this thread(not to mention the ever growing number of people on the TMF) that's generally not the case

i've told lots of people, and only one person EVER thought down upon it. Besides, she doesn't like me as it is. she'll never ever ever like me, and i could save someones life and she'd say something like "Look at him, always trying to be all heroic and showboaty!"


So yeah, fairly i'd say unless a person really doesn't like you, you'll either get one of a few reactions

1) indifference
2) curious (this can work to your advantage)
3) think its cute (work this angle like no end)
4) taken back, but accepting


So yeah, you have nothing to fear but .......... getting tickled. (what, did you think i was gonna say "fear itself"?)


I kinda don't care who knows, so i use it as a test of who i can trust. If they go blabbing, i know not to tell important stuff to people in the future.

Bring those feet over here. You won't get a "grow up" out of me. Instead, you'll hear "get my chopstick and some baby oil!!"

Many of my friends know about my love for tickling and two have even since joined this forum. I am open and honest about myself. Most have had a positive/neutral reaction. Only a few have said "I just don't understand how anyone could like being tickled!" To which I smile and reply "because my brain loves it, dears!"😀

As for the topic at hand, I keep this close to the chest and don't really tell anybody. coincidentally, i always seem to be under the influence when i do tell someone. now, I have NEVER told anyone about this place or mention "fetish" or anything. I just say that I enjoy tickling because, frankly I do.

I usually relate how I used to tickle my exes. In my circle of people, nobody talks about details of their sex lives, so I follow suit. For those of you out there that are a little apprehensive about telling someone outside of here, telling it casually like I do without going into the details of your private life is a good way to go. For the most part, you might be surprised by other people's responses.

On a side note, things are looking pretty good for me - i had to tell somebody. The weather's getting warm and the ladies' threads are getting hot. Also, I've noticed some of them have been more 'flirty' with me and daddy likee. I don't know why and frankly I don't give a damn. Even if nothing comes of this - it's always a great feeling to get attention like this. Again, no questions, everything's hunky-dorey.

It's the sexual side of it that seems to scare people all to hell. Some wouldn't even understand at all. So I've never discussed it with anyone other than my wife as a sexual fetish. That statement was typed with parents and family in mind. My friends know I'm ticklish, but they never try anything.
