Goodevening fine ladies and gentlemen of the TMF! This is my first post in this guise, and i am sorry to say it is not of the most pleasant nature. I shall explain.
I was experiencing some difficulty with my credit card - i could not make payments to a tickling paysite (french tickling, incidently) - and so contacted the customer services department of my credit card provider (barclaycard). They had told me that a block was put on my card to prevent further transactions to globill, ccbill etc. for they regularly receive many complaints about such shady operators, and believed my card to have been used fraudulently. I reassured barclaycard that the transaction was genuine and kindly insisted that they remove the blcok on my card - something they did not do. With the issue not really resolved and with me finding it increasingly difficult to make payments to online tickling companies such as FM concepts (a site i had previously been able to use quite easily), i decided to contact barclaycard again. They reassured me that they had lifted the block, but i insisted that it still remained. They were good enough to investigate the issue. I then received a telephone call informing me that the sites to which payments were being made, were of the most obscene and disreputable nature, and that they were bordering on the edge of perversion. I was quite embarrassed. I was then told that the reason i could not make payments was due to a fault lying with the websited to which i was trying to make payments - something i was in no mood to dispute, at this point. Something was mentioned of informing the police of my activities.
I find this discrimination incredible.
Here are some facts: -

I had only visited tickling related web-sites. These included, but by no means were limited to: -

TMF
NOEYES
TICKLE THEATER
FM CONCEPTS
SW TICKLE
MTP
REALTICKLING
EXTREME TICKLING

I had not visited any dubious sites - extreme fetish sites that are asphyxiation or paedophile orientated etc. I had only ever visited tickling websites. My tickling fetish is quite possibly a perversion, but should it be of the significance that the police should be able to monitor my internet activity?
Has anyone else been treated in this way?

I dont have a CC, but I dont think that the police should monitor internet usage unless the person in question was either A) a sex offender B)Kidnapper C) Hacker

I'd say there was an over-anxious credit card employee at work, a puritan to the core. Practically all porn (meant in a very wide sense) producers sell their internet products over credit cards, and I've never read or heard about credit card companies blocking their accounts for other than fraud or credit over-extension.

Don't worry, the police can't do anything to you, even if they investigate. If possible, I'd try to find another credit card company, and cancel the old one. I'd probably write a very clear letter to the management explaining why exactly the reasons, along with the name of the person who blocked your account. But that's up to you, of course.

I agree. It is probably an employee trying to be the Moral Police. I'd suggest going to one of the REALLY big companies, simply because they most likely have rules against this sort of behavior, since many of their members have interests like this. Discrimination is less likely there.

Wow, unbeleavable, what a crock

Just Imagine if you wanted to join www,saraashley.com, or www.petracentral.com. I wonder what an adult film star or a Playboy Centerfold would rate on that prudes pervertion list. On a scale from 1-10, most likely a 320,127.

I echo the sentiment that the poilce can't do anything to you. It's not a crime to visit & pay for services of off porn sites & tickling sites are way tamer than most porn sites out there.

I'm sure that they must have company policies about this sort of thing, but I would go to another company for a CC.

*nods* I would do that to let them know that they're losing a good customer for stupid reasons. :sowrong:

You missed a golden opportunity.

The moment you hear the word "Police", Pull out paper and pencil and YOU start asking questions.

-- What is your name ?
-- May I have your extension number or other identifying ID ?
-- Are you a Barclays employee or a contract firm ?
-- You mentioned the word "police", may I have the nature of the charge against me ?
-- May I speak with your supervisor, please ?

A very good thing to have is a telephone headset (low-cost versions are available in common stores these days) and ask the person to speak the answers slowly. Make sure he can hear you entering the information through the keyboard.

At the same time,,, writing the info down on paper has its own special effect; the short pauses help the listener to understand.

By all means, get these data...
DATE
TIME
NAME(S)

Be aware that if you don't follow-up (in writing) you will receive less credibility here in the future.

In fact, I truly believe that your decision to write or not write (the highest official you can find in this corporation) will determine exactly how you can expect to be treated by these people in the future.

Incidentally, I understand the mental suffering that has been inflicted upon you by the employee who suggested that police should be called. (Remember that phrase, "Mental Suffering". Use it. Use it in writing.)

If you don't have NAME/DATE/TIME on this employee, report what you can to the best of your ability. They probably have some sort of tracking to see who took the call

Everything P50 said, use it! It is the key to solving this problem.

I will emphasize what he said: GET IT IN WRITING!!!!

Exactly as P50 said. You do realize that you are in America, and have freedom of speech? You met one of the many moral bullies out there, who don't like something, so try to get the police involved because people aren't doing what they say. Go to one of the bigger credit card companies of course, but do write that letter.

Tell them you will get a civil rights attorney, or someone from the ACLU, and if they wish to bring harm on you for exercising your God given and constitutionally given rights of freedom of speech, especially when you are not bothering anyone else, you will sue them for discrimination and violation of said constitutional rights.

It's because of these people that others have tried to outlaw public prayer and the pledge of allegiance. These people better start getting educated in that little thing called The Bill of Rights.....

Id also try, if its a public company, filing a report with the better business buereau. I can understand you not wanting to say "Hey they wont let me into tickling sites" but you can say that they are basically telling you where and what you can use your card for and I believe that is illegal

Yup a Puritan, big time.

Change CC companies, I would in a heartbeat.

Perversion? That CC employee needs to read the papers to see what that means.

Gee I only opened this thread because I assumed there'd be some perversion in it! I feel cheated. :wow: :blaugh:

Several people in this thread have reminded the originator of his constitutional rights as an American. I would just point out that the poster is English (and Barclaycard is an English company).

That said, visiting tickling sites is no less legal in England than here. The private opinion of the CC employee that it is "perverted" is utterly irrelevant, and legally obtuse. If they try to put the police on you, THEY have much more to worry about from invading your privacy than you have from them.

Puritan? I have another name for that (which I wont be repeating openly). and, SS, sorry!

absoloute bloody cheek on barclay's part. sue their arses off! makes me glad i'm with natwest.

really, you shouldn't let this rest. threateing legal action against an innocent person is a big no-go for giants like barclaycard. you should definetly follow this incident up.

good luck.
