Phone App Question

Earlier this week, apparently in the middle of the night, without my knowing, my phone downloaded an app.
]
]This app was causing pop ups , seemingly 24-7, with constant sounds of pop ups.

I had been away until yesterday.

Today, I went to the cell phone store where I bought this phone, and explained the problem with my phone to one of the sales people in the store.

The guy I talked to said.

"I dont know what app was downloaded, so I cant help you"

I came home, and tried to download a phone cleaner.

This seems to have made the problem worse.

Usually, it takes, maybe.. an hour for the phone to charge, say if the charge is halfway charged at about 50 to 60% or a bit more.

Now, with the charge in the high 60% percent, it is seemingly not charging or charging very slowly

Instead of the usual hour or two it usually takes to charge the phone, it says.

"8 hours until full charge"

Something is completely screwed up.

Pop ups, no help from the phone store, extremely slow charging, phone cleaner does not help.

I'm at a loss of what to do.

Most frustrating is that the phone store cannot even give me an idea of what to try.

Those who know me know that I'm not the most "Tech savvy" person on the planet.

If anyone has any advice about how to resolve this, I would greatly appreciate it

Thanks.

When in doubt, google it 🙂 What kind of phone is it? Has it been updated recently?

Its an Android, Pawz.

I bought this phone several months ago. It does automatic updates.

I'm going to look into this further.

Best bet is to backup texts and contacts then do a factory restore Ladderlad. That'll definately fix it, but you'll lose any data (pics, vids, etc) you haven't backed up. Or you could hire Pez to come over and do it. I hear she's very efficient for a hobbit.

Thanks.

This phone does not have those features on it.

Most frustrating is that since this happened, the phone is charging very slowly, much more slowly than usual

It could be due to the app downloading, but I did a clean out, and it still is not great.

As I said before, I'm going to check into this .

DoughyButt is correct. You can use the Cloud or Google to back it up and factory reset it. Otherwise, if it’s under warranty, take it in and tell them to fix it.

This phone is less than a year old

I dont remember if the warranty is still good or not.

I have a few ideas, and will check into them,

Another possibility: you obviously must have a service provider. Unless they're a fly-by-night service, they should have a customer service/ technical service department. Check with them, they may be able to help (they likely could also determine if you're still under warranty).
