Hello! I'm a 42 year old male living just outside of Chicago and have just recently given myself permission to like WHOEVER I like, REGARDLESS of gender, and not be embarrassed by it. If you have a problem with that "lifestyle" that's cool, and we can agree to disagree. It literally cured my 20+ year old depression instantly! If I could tell young people especially, if you're hurting and you don't know why (or even think you know why), all I can tell you is that if there's a part of you that you're embarrassed about, ashamed of, are terrified of the wrong person finding out, you have NO IDEA the damage you are doing to yourself by treating yourself worse than you would another person. You'd never say to another person with a story similar to yours "oh you're ashamed? Good, you should be!"
But you'd be amazed how many of us say that to ourselves. EVERY.GODDAMN.DAY. Being good to yourself, loving yourself, aren't just expressions that sound nice. They're literal! Millions of people are TORTURING themselves, while they'd never DREAM of treating someone else that way! You're a person too! Just because you have to look in the mirror to see that person, doesn't make them any less real! When you reject something about you that, let's be honest, just makes you human like everyone else, you do things to yourself that you would get 10 consecutive life sentences in prison for doing to someone else. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING! There's a person inside of you, you're not an empty body walking around. Treat that person any worse than you would treat someone else, and you do so at your own peril. God forgive me for the years I've wasted. Learn from my mistakes, if you're still young, enjoy your youth while you still can! Make literal friends with yourself (again it's NOT just a cute expression), and you can do things you CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE! God bless you all and happy new year!
