know what things you are not attending. While posting in an event
thread that you're not attending is popular, I thought it would be
helpful if we had one big thread so that everyone can tell everyone
what they can't make it to this year.

What a wonderful idea! If only the 120,000+ TMF members who didn't attend NEST 2012 had all posted their regrets, then we would have had one of the most popular threads on this site to hold all of their posts.

But let's not stop there. Let's also post about all the events that are not taking place. For example, there will not be a gathering here in New York City on Memorial Day. 😛

Due to fetish issues and the nasty upper body vs. feet fued adversely impacting the time-space continium, NOW I regret to say there have really NEVER BEEN any munches or gatherings.(sorry, no refunds on alleged fees,travel and lodging expenses) It does explain why those phone numbers you think you were given never answer. If space travel becomes cheap, safe, quarantine free( or for the right price with the right partner), I will still not attend any "tickle the stars and moon" events. But if there are any future ones held outside of Atlanta, I could not Sonicare less.

I can honestly see why BrightEyes is a bit irked by the clueless people who do this.

It either takes a massive ego or an out-of-touch obtuse buffoon to post that you won't be attending an event.
What's even worse is the self-absorbed "I'm undecided ... I'll have to see if I have the $$$ or can get the time off from work. I'll keep you posted".

Equally lame are the schmucks who post repeatedly in said threads with sad attempts at humor because they happen to be attending and feel strongly about the supposed great time you'll be missing by not choking down a steak with your fellow TMFers.

and then there are those that sincerely want to inform their friends that they cant make it by posting in said thread instead of answering multiple inquiries as to whether or not they are going......just sayin....it really shouldnt "irk" anyone if someone makes such a post.....there are far more annoying posts to be found all over the net.....lol


BUT...in the spirit of the thread and in order to stay on topic, it is unlikely that Tracy and I will be attending any gatherings, munches, or time share pitches any time in the near future...

As somebody who doesn't go to munches or gatherings, I can nonetheless see the appeal for such events. I too can understand Brighteyes' annoyance. As an organizer, she's frustrated with the added difficulty in keeping track of the numbers. It would certainly ease the considerable burden of this task if each post represented a positive response.

On the other hand, I can understand how people might want to express their regrets in not being able to attend. Some might understandably feel that by not responding, they might be perceived as snubbing the event, particularly if it's one they've been known to regularly attend.

I guess the bottom line is that it's probably asking too much to expect only one kind of response on a forum, even when there's a good reason for that expectation.

I know my opinion wont be popular for those who like it, but I suggest swaying away from NEST. It was very overpriced this year and not really worth the pricetag/hype. Just my two cents.
