Good afternoon, gang.
Man, I came across a fun little gem of a podcast via subscribing to the Howl network, which is essentially Netflix for comedy and pop culture podcasts. It is the brainchild of some sort of media group and Earwolf comedy podcast network.
Aaaanyway, there is a short weekly podcast - The Mysterious Secrets of Uncle Bertie's Botanarium - produced by a group of New Zealanders, including Jemaine Clement of the Flight of the Conchords fame, that drops each Friday on Howl. It is a narrated story with lots of great voice acting and cool original music and sound editing. From the network:
"Travel back to 1768, when the Fortitude sailed from the famous port of Damprot, the Jewel of the Gravy Isles. The ship, commandeered by Lord Joseph Banks (Clement) –nephew of the infamous botanist Bertie Banks – was on a mission to find a plant known to be the very source of pleasure in the world: Heaven’s Clover. This is the tale of that fateful journey."
It's a fun tale featuring plenty of that quirky New Zealand humor. Perhaps you'll enjoy it, too? I'm pretty sure you can check the show out for free at earwolf.com. Howl is $5/month, but there are tons of promo codes floating around for discounts and whatnot. You can get all of the content that you would normally get at Earwolf for free, along with tons of comedy albums, special audio projects and bonus episodes from a bunch of the popular podcasts on the network.
That's all I've got. Happy listening!
