Hi guys,
Here's a Poison Ivy practice piece. I traced the pic (I know, naughty, naughty, but even the pros do it sometimes) and tried colouring it in various styles. Oils, pastels, pencils, etc.
I ended up settling on air brush as it's by far the most effective technique given my lack of talent or patience.
I then spruced it up a bit and thought that I'd post it here.
lots of issues with tidiness, etc. But on the plus side, I feel that the eyes really pop, and also tried the red glaze over the nose and ears, which i think helps it pop a bit more as well.
Edit: Added 2nd practice pic. Didn't look quite like the actress I was basing it on, but turned out quite nice. The hair is shocking, but that's another thing to learn how to do well.
Edit 2: Added another practice pic. Even attempted a simple backdrop. Fairly easy to get the shading right when copying a pic. But at least better than prior efforts.
Edit 3: Added my final practice pic. Messed up the base colour. She really is rose... But otherwise happy with the shading and highlight fx.
Regards,
MM
