So, shortly after college I dated a girl who was a hardcore Republican. We couldn't have had less in common politically, but we had a blast together... for a while, anyway. One of her favored hobbies was cornering or immobilizing me and then tickling me relentlessly until I said something nice about, say, Rush Limbaugh. It was maddening and it killed me to do it but she prevailed every single time, needless to say, invariably cackling at her own triumph.
Sometimes I miss her a little. (I believe she is now in finance, making eight gajillion dollars a year.)
A magazine ran a pictorial of hot young delegates to the Republican National Convention. I think they may actually be models, not genuine delegates, but nevertheless... I have to admit that even though it would mean my certain destruction I'd be tempted to revisit my ex-girlfriend's sinister and devilishly unfair brand of political debate with someone like this.
