Just a matter of time...
I'm with you guys! Today's science fiction is tomorrow's science fact. If someone can imagine it, someone else can make it happen one way or another. I can imagine a 'personal pod' where one could sit, totally isolated from the outside world, and on his or her visor, a pre-conceived scenario would play out, interactively, and it would seem so real that the user would never realize that it was not. (That could get habit-forming.) In time there will even be computers smart enough to achieve the same degree of interaction we now get from a 'live partner' in the chatroom, all in holographic living color.
As Hal mentioned, maybe by the time this happens, tickling will be more widely accepted. After all, who would have imagined (even 7 - 8 yrs ago) that the TMF would exist or that it would have over 7,500 registered members? I just hope somebody takes the technology that far before I get too old to appreciate it.
