The papers which Charles handed out, basically agreed to the eighty million figure which everyone discussed, with one "add on clause"
Charles had a paper attached, saying that he proposed "royalties" be given to him, his company, or anyone he assigned them to, of "Five percent"
Ross sighed, annoyed as hell. He was silent, as Steve spoke up.
"Charles, we never discussed this. We are boying your refinery , RFS is paying eighty big ones for it. We do all the work refining and selling the oil, and then you want five percent of work, as basically a "kickback" I dont like that. I dont like it at all. I'm sure that Ross and Fritz echo my sentiments" Steve said, as Ross sighed in an annoyed manner.
" Why should we, why would we, ever agree to this?" Ross asked.
Charles smiled. "Simple, there is one other "Condition" for me. I will find you all of the sources to sell your product after refining it. The five percent is a finder's fee" Charles said.
"We have almost never had problems locating investors, but are you willing to put that in writing before we sign the final deal and pay you?" Steve asked.
Charles gave a big grin. "Yes, Gentlemen"
"Okay, then we have a deal! Let's call in the lawyers, make plans for a final meeting, sign the papers and pay. Ross will have to be present from New York via Zoom, but" Steve said.
"Not exactly. When will we have a final meeting?" Ross said,
"Thirty Days" Charles said.
"I will come back down. I always do anyway. Let;'s go out to lunch" Ross said.
Ross, Steve, Fritz and Charles all went to a big, long steak lunch, and then everyone said goodbye, and Ross, Fritz, and Steve went back to RFS office.
"Guys, I think we should have Tom draft up a contract that we all sign that this refinery is the sole property of Ross, Fritz, Steve and the RFS OKC office, just in case The other part is a side agreement about the five percent finder's fee" Steve said.
"I was thinking the very same thing. We will call Tom tomorrow" Ross said.
"Ross, how long can you stay?" Steve said.
"I told you. Up to a week, realistically four to five days. I need a break from you know who" Ross said. (Meaning Kayley)
"Fine, let's do two deals the next two days, however big, and then assign them here, and then you can go home. Two deals, and a refinery, is a good week;s work" Steve said.
Ross, Fritz, and Steve called investors, and planned a seventy five person show the next day, seventy five the day after, and then Ross would go home.
After dinner that night, Ross went back to the hotel.
Ross slept peacefully, no calls from NYC.
The next day, bright and early, Ross, Fritz, and Steve went to the field with one hundred potentials.
Lecture, speech by Steve, speech by the foreman. Fifty papers to potentials handed out, probably half would sign.
The next night, dinner with Ross, Fritz and Steve.
Ross stayed at the hotel.
The next morning, rinse and repeat, breakfast for Ross, Fritz and Steve. Field show for 150 investors. Half signed.
Ross decided to go home that evening on a 7 pm flight. He texted Kayley, to no answer.,
Plane changed in Dallas, landed in JFK at 1, Ross was home at 130.
He was about to go to the guest room, when Ross heard loud sobbing in the hall.
"R.. Ross, can I talk to you for one minute please?" Kayley said.
Ross sighed.
"Kayley, its late, and I'm tired. We will talk all about it tomorrow when you get home from school" Ross said, trying to delay it.
"G. Go look on the kitchen counter, and bring me the envelope" Kayley said.
Ross did as Kayley asked.
Kayley reached into the envelope, and handed it to Kayley .
Kayley reached in the envelope, and handed Ross an Xray, and a letter.
"Touche, bitch Kayley gets hers" Kayley said.
Ross read the letter, and looked at the Xray, and felt a chill go down his spine.
"Ms C, we are sorry to inform you that the lump we located is "suspicious." Please call our office immediately for further discussion, and testing" The letter said.
Ross could not speak. He wanted to say. "Kale, forget the bullshit. I'm your husband of 27 years, and I'm here for you"
Kayley';s tears got worse.
Another "Anvil " had hit.
Maybe the worst Anvil.
What would be the outcome?
That would be seen.
